This is the shot Bill showed me and He asked me to post the correct answer this evening.

I want to thank everyone who participated in the contest.

The diagram I chose to show the position is the entire table, to give the members the choice to choose ANY shot they thought I may have chosen.

By choosing to show the entire table, I made sure I diagramed the CB NOT frozen to the short cushion and the OB very close the same cushion. The OB is ½ inch off the cushion, the CB is a little over an 1 inch off the cushion.

I’ve been shooting a variation of the position for MANY years in exhibition. Playing the rail first double kiss back, around the table lengthwise.

The diagramed position is just a shorter version, across the table, rail first double kiss back. Hit the cushion before the OB, apply EXTREME 8 O’clock English and hit the shot with med-soft speed, this will help keep the EXTREME effect on the CB. This will give the shot a LARGER scoring area (shown by shaded area) on the 3rd cushion.

The shot is VERY simple to execute, with just a few attempts, most players will succeed in scoring the point this way!

Thanks Gilbert for your help with this.

Well, I really enjoyed holding this contest for the members. There were MANY different answers to the position I diagramed for the out shot I made on Mitch.

Unfortunately, NO one solved the correct solution within the guidelines, but, someone did give the CORRECT answer, with an EXTRA guess. The unofficial winner was, KycU, for his unofficial correct answer, thank you, i know one guess per member just want to guess another one just for fun, left english on cb bang to top short rail to white ball, white ball hit left long rail then bounce back hit cb then cb hit short rail then right long rail to red ball I'm sending the copy of, "Strokes...Systems n Strategies" at NO cost, He pays the S&H, $4.95 USD in CONUS.

I hope everyone had as fun as I did with this little experiment of mine, maybe in the future, I'll try it again!

Once again, I appreciate ALL that participated!

P.S. KycU, Please PM me your shipping info!

Black; KycU description of he solution to my shot is just about how I would explain it to someone.

His description relates to the diagram I supplied to Gilbert to post.

Dan; This is the answer YOU chose, to give, [B "double kiss straight into white-- short rail first". [/B]The answer is somewhat less than explanatory. I interpreted YOUR answer to be an attempt to kiss the CB around the table rail first.

If YOUR answer would have been MORE in detail, as KycU solution was, "I thank you, i know one guess per member just want to guess another one just for fun, left english on cb bang to top short rail to white ball, white ball hit left long rail then bounce back hit cb then cb hit short rail then right long rail to red ball." this would make more sense to me!

Bill, I think your interpertation is INCORRECT because I stated STRAIGHT into white I didn't say off white around the table. I could have been mores specific in my answer but I still think I should win at least win an honorable mention. Anyway, it's a great shot and you made it as a game winning point so kudos to you and thank you for sharing. Dan B.

Dan; I can certainly do that, I will send you a poster of Willie Hoppe and Joe Chamaco's 1000 point Match!

As with KycU, just pay the S&H $4.95, thru PAY PAL, SEND payment to my Email address: mr3cushion@live.com

Bill, Thank you! You are a gentleman and a scholar and that is a great poster. I used to play at Allingers back in the sixties so that poster has a special meaning for me. Also if you could write something nice on that poster and sign it [at no additional cost !!!! ] I will display it in my billiard room. I don't have Pay Pal so PM me with your address and I will send you a check. Thanks again, Dan B.

I happened to be looking through my old Billiards Digests last night and happened across the following diagram from Bob Byrne (Nov-Dec 1978, "Don't Overlook the Kiss-Back"). In this position, it looks like the best shot.

Well Bob, it's too bad you didn't find the article a little sooner, You may have gotten the correct answer, and WON the contest!

Well, "correct" is a tricky adjective in this case. I think in the situation you showed, your solution is far from the correct solution for most players.

In the case of Bob Byrne's diagram, the rail-first kiss-back may be the best shot, if you see it. Byrne has a real knack in making his diagrams so that the shot he is illustrating is plausibly the best shot to shoot and not just a marginal shot that might be made 10% of the time.

Bob; It ALL depends on the LEVEL of player, if they make the shot MORE than 10% of the time.

I had a few members PM me that had tried the shot, they were AMAZED how simple the shot was to make, ONCE they knew the shot exist!

Bob, maybe YOU might just have to practice the shot a little more!

P.S. I wont reveal their names, but, the players that sent me a PM about making the shot, were ALL about, .0500-.0700 players! A player like Gilbert Najm, made the shot on his FIRST attempt!
