Thanks for the heads up. I'm glad to see Bobby do well. Did Russ have a decent finish?

Are you and Billy planning on coming to Breakers for the tournament on the 10th and 11th?

GL to you guys in Chatt. Hope I can make it to the tournament down there next month.

Hey Beatle,

I didn't see you there. Sorry if I missed you. I just got in from Soddy. It was a great tournament with plenty of big names and upsets. There was lots of non-stop gambling as well. The tournament was run great and I plan on attending next month.

KTown,

I think Russ finished 9-12. Billy beat me out for 13-16, and he put Russ out the next match. Russ and Billy were both shooting lights out. When I left Billy B was playing Charlie Lane, a local guy who plays great. I have known Charlie for alot of years, and although he hasn't played in some time, he was hitting them pretty sporty. There was one surprise. Billy Young didn't make it through Saturday. Charlie beat him on the winner's side, then he lost his next match as well. There was a guy there named Monroe who was playing well also. He put Hennessee on the short bus, but Jon must have gotten his revenge when Pickle beat Monroe to put him on the one-loss side. I thought Monroe was going to beat Pickle (Pickle was down 6-1), but Bobby caught a gear and pulled it out. It was great to see Bobby play well.

There is another big tournament at Diamond Billiard Club in Chattanooga next weekend. It seems to be getting to be "tournament central" around the Chattanooga area. I'm sure the same suspets will show up there as well.

I played Monroe the other night at the Knox Billiard Club, him giving me the 7. We went back and forth for about an hour before the tournament started. We were going to play some more after the tournament but we both won our brackets. We decided to half up the finals and call it a night.

How full of sh*t was Monroe's buddy? He supposedly was a pro boxer, cuemaker, pool teacher, high end cue collector and other things I can't remember. He said he had a Szamboti worth 50,000. Damn, I got tired of listening to him.

I wish I could make it next weekend, but the next time I will get to play will be the weekend tournament in Knoxville. Wife had surgery and I am on baby patrol for the next 2 weeks. I hope to see everyone then.

Man. A tournament within a hour of me and I knew nothing about it. I suck. What pool room was this held at?

This had to be Jimbo. He has been anything and everything. Just
ask him!!
I am real good friends with Monroe and have had to listen to Jimbo's
tales more than once. I was glad to see that Monroe did well in the event.
I moved to SoCal about 3.5 years ago and he had almost quit playing then. Glad to see he is back at it.
He and I have made alot of money together.......we lost some we should not have either but lets dont bring that up...
Did you happen to catch where Monroe was living now? Carrolton maybe?

If you see him tell Frankncali (frank from Dothan) said hello.

I had Jimbos number but it must have been a self destructor ....... who know he was an undercover agent!!

Hey Hal,

The tournament was at Charlie's Lounge in Soddy-Daisy. It was a great event. I think that it is going to be a monthly thing. Maybe you can make it next month.

KTown,

You are right. That guy with Monroe was a real wheeler-dealer. He had cues for sale and claimed to know everything about every cue made since the dawn of mankind. Of course, what he had was priceless, but he would only offer minimal amounts to people if they were interested in selling a cue. He was entertaining to be around. For a while, anyway :D .

It was a good tournament. I think when word gets out, it will be even better with the possibility of money to be made. There are a few heavy gamblers from the area. You have to outrun the nuts to get a game with them, but if you can, good scores can be made there.

I also played a young guy from Knoxville named Caleb. He seemed to be a good kid. Tell him hello if you see him around.

If he had dark skin and no hair I know him well. I'm sure you had no problem playing him any pool. He is more of a card player than a pool player but he does like to play one pocket and will gamble.

Sounds like you know him. He kept talking about gambling for big money. He asked me if I play and what I'd play for. He finally asked me to play some for two a game and i actually thought he said 200. Being the high roller that he is I couldn't imagine him wanting to play for $2. I told him to post up and we could play on the front 9 ft table. You can imagine his look when I pulled out my post. He promptly corrected me as to the wager.:(

Monroe and Jimbo have been friends for quite some time. They ae totally different which has always made me wonder just how they stayed friends.
At times I have heard Monroe set Jimbo straight.
Strange thing is that if Jimbo would just quit all the embellishments he is
actually ok to hang out with.
Did you and Monroe play anymore?

No, it was 2:15 in the morning and I had to be at work the next day at 8:00. I think he probably had the better of the game we played. He missed a few opportunities to get out that he should have capitolized on. When he gets in gear he seems to play pretty strong. I didn't know how I needed to play him and I was just giving him some action. I don't mind trying to outrun a tough matchup for 10 or 20 dollars a game. He seems like a pretty easy going guy, but his buddy goes nonstop.

One thing with Monroe is that he will always give you a fair game. I have seen him adjust way too much to win at times. He is alright. We have known each other for a long long time and worked on the road together
for a few years.
On AZ myself, Sizl and Monroe all grew up around each other and know each other really well. I have many Monroe stories and do alot of other people LOL.
Everyone has Jimbo stories
