Need advice on a new tip

I’m looking for advice on buying a new tip. The tip on my cue got wet a few weeks ago when I got caught in some heavy rain on my motorcycle. The cue is fine but the tip just doesn’t seem to hold chalk well even after being picked and sanded. I have lost all confidence in it so I will replace it.

My background:

I am in the Philippines and I have been playing pool for about 6 months now. I play in 3 bar leagues and practice about 10-15 hours a week on a new Brunswick 1845. The table and others I play on are outdoors so humidity can be a factor. My stroke has gotten steady and I generally hit the CB on center or with a little draw or follow. My game turns to crap when I try to use English to control the CB to get shape on my next shot so I am looking for a tip that will give me some help. I will be using Blue Diamond chalk.

I have been looking at two brands, Kamui and predator. Price is not an issue. Some basic questions:

What millimeter tip should I use? Seems all the Kamui tips are 14mm. Is a wider tip better?
Super soft, Soft, medium,
Kamui black, Clear black or brown leather

Thanks in advance

My advice is to wait a month or two and the choice will become clear...

The size of the tip will be cut down to match the diameter of whatever shaft it goes on. Don't look at that as a deciding factor.

I would suggest borrowing and test hitting a few different cues with different tips. Personally I like the Onyx tip and the Ultraskins Medium. You might as well ask the forum what color car you should buy, it's personal preference.

Phil

You being in the Philippines I would use a Kamui Black Because they are made for Humid conditions and places that have the kind of weather you have in the Philippines. Love the Philippines, Been there many many times myself, Dumaguete, Manila, CDO, Midanao, Cebu,

The problem here is that the guys that have their own cue don't usually know what tip they have. It's usually just a cheap tip that a local put on for them. Now in Manila there would be more knowledgeable players. There are no pall halls here, just bars with pool tables. Thanks for the info on the width of the tip.

That is what I was thinking. Any advice on soft medium or supersoft for a new player like myself learning to control the CB?
