Predator 314-2 shaft

I received my new 314-2 shaft a couple days ago and thought I would give a review as I dont know of anyone else that has one yet.

The only advantage that I did notice over the standard 314 is that there is less deflection. I mainly notice it when playing tons of inside turn.

The disadvantage is that the shaft seems to have alot more vibration when playing high english. I think that this happens because the shaft is more hollow then the original 314, making it less solid.

Would I spend over $200 for one if I had a standard 314? No

The reason I bought one is because all my cues were recently stolen and the VNEA tourney in Vegas.

Expect to miscue more often on jacked-up and top of the rail shots.
Joey,

Would a hollw shaft with a flexible front end actually make it easier to miscue on off center hit, especially when extreme english is applied, since the cue will buckle away from the ball upon contact? How about when a phenolic tip is installed?

Joey, what do you think?

Thank you.

I think so. If I were a ahole and playing someone with a 314 and he miscues doing a top of the rail shot, I could argue he fouled. That ferrule would come back after miscuing and hit that cb again.
Phenolic tips miscue more often than leather. That is just common sense imo.
If a shiny leather miscues, how much more a phenolic tip?

Why would you put a phenolic tip on a 314-2? It is not a break shaft!

I have been wondering why do they put a phenolic tip on their new break cue with a hollow front section. What do you think?

If you hit off center, will you miscue easier with a phenolic tip on a shaft with a hollow front end than one with a phenolic tip on a soild shaft?

I understand that if you can hit the cue ball very precisely at the center, then of course, it does not matter. However, if you can hit the ball that pure, you really do not need to be so concerned with cue ball squirt, do you?

Richard, why "wonder" when you can just try a BK-2 yourself? I've tried a few and haven't experienced any problems. Seems like an excellent break cue to me.
