Figured I'd share this for the benefit of anyone thinking about going with Schmelke for a custom or plain sneaky.
Over the phone and via e-mail, I described to them a somewhat dressed up 60-inch sneaky design with a hoppe ring, and a silver-ringed black-white-black collar at the joint (a design I've seen numerous times on this site, on cues way out of my budget.) From there, they simply priced out the additions with their plain bocote sneaky as the base.
Also, I requested a change from their "Schmelke - Made in USA" maker's mark, in favor of a more minimalist "S" in their typeface. They were more than happy to oblige. (Hopefully I didn't rip off any independent custom cuemaker's mark by requesting this - if so, my apologies.)
Anyway, at the end of our phone conversation, I was in disbelief that the cue had come out to be less than the PS3 I bought for my brother just a few months ago. Hell, I've purchased shoes that have come out to more than the cost of this cue.
Finding a budget priced 60 inch cue is tough when you're trying to keep costs low. Many thanks to the folks at Schmelke for building such a great cue to my specs. If anyone is considering them, don't hesitate. They're great at what they do and they'll make it just how you want it.
(Here's hoping my cheap camera phone can give it a good showing.)
