Cool Pool Videos

From the rolling balls, drops into the pockets, and the balls slamming against the railings, there is no doubt that you will feel the realism of the game as you play.

Also, is the "slightly seedy" nature of the way that pool is presented an overall hindrance to the game being perceived outside the sport as a proper sport?

Gamblers bet on sports all the time without causing a sport to be perceived as less proper. Football, baseball, basketball and so on.

In fact, pool is probably one of the least-bet-upon sports. I'd bet that all the money bet on pool during one year doesn't equal the amount bet on one college football game.

The difference is that in pool, it's often/usually the player who's doing the betting. That's usually verbotin in other sports.

Yeah, also if you're the manager ... just ask Pete Rose. ;)

I guess I don't see pool being "portrayed" very much in the commercial. It's a commercial for an online betting service and the examples in the background appear to be football/soccer, etc. matches.

It never screams "bet on pool!" As mentioned earlier, that would be a dumb marketing strategy since there aren't many pool bettors, nor are there regular, scheduled matches to bet on.

The fact that it opens with the guy playing pool on some kind of futuristic table? 99.9% of people probably wouldn't even remember that 30 seconds after seeing the commercial. The futuristic table and balls did their job: grabbed your visual attention. And then the commercial quickly moved on to its message (which didn't involve pool).
