i would really like to see some more examples of Pink Ivory cues. If anyone has any please post them up. Extra points for Butterfly/Pink Ivory combinations.:D
 
Well mine is not primarily Pink Ivory, but has a lot of Pink Ivory in it! Pink Ivory can come in many different shades, from pale to vibrant. Depending on how the light hits it, at least in my cue, it can look a subdued dusty rose, to a very vibrant, almost red. You will most commonly see it used in ebony, but I recently saw an old Valley purpleheart conversion SP that has Pink Ivory butterflies in the butt that looked phenomenal. In my cue, the Pink Ivory is used with Bois de Rose (Madagascar Rosewood) which is a very dark, rich burgundy. Sometimes, when it comes to Pink Ivory, you gotta think outside of the box. :D PS...Pink Ivory is one of THE rarest and most expensive woods in the world, (not including the nearly unobtainable Brazilian Rosewood), it can cost you more to use this in a cue than Ivory.

Haha...someone else asked me if I might ever consider parting with this cue. I would have to say that if the right Blue Grass or maybe Bender came along, I might consider it. :eek: I really wish I had a pic that showed the grain/figuring of the BdR. It actually shimmers in the light....gorgeous, really. And she has her very own Black Cherry 1x2 Murnak that she resides in. :D

You know, Lisa, I was not really sure about your cue when you first posted it. But, I have to say that it has really grown on me. The full picture above shows what a good job you did with the overall design. And, it is even better that you are so happy with the way it came out. :cool:

Thanks, Scott. I tried to keep an overall 'flow' to the design. I like most, I think, how the non-traditional inlays all come together to actually make for an elegant, traditional looking cue. Also, instead of a black phenolic joint collar, I had Skip do the collars at the ivory joint and shafts in the same BdR as is in the rest of the cue. We piloted the ivory joint for this reason.

I went with the ivory hearts because I like Skip's heart inlays, and it had only been done twice before this cue. I just wish pictures did this cue justice.....there is not one flaw that I have been able to find in the workmanship of this cue. Skip told me he was very proud of how this cue turned out.:D

I've got a matched pair of custom cues on order with my local cuemaker... both of which will have pink ivory in their points and in their rings.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to post pictures of the cues until they're finished and I take delivery of 'em. :(


... but I will. :)

The one I just got from Bama has pink ivory ovals with MOP scalloped diamonds in each oval. BAMACUES I will take some pics soon.

Wow, Fred, those are some nice cues! Who did the second cue pictured?

I finally got a pic that shows the grain in the BdR/Madagascar Rosewood! Just wanted to show that the cue is not always as dark as it appears in most pics.
