I always try and help others out, but i guess this is the first individual fundraising i have done since the Readathon in elementary school.:) I think I received a personal pan pizza for my prize. Difference here, is that the people who donate have a chance to win a prize....and it is better then a little pizza!;)

On May 31, I am participating in the Tour De Cure bike race to raise money for diabetes research. I am riding with my girlfriend, and her family and friends. She has had type 1 diabetes since 6 years old. I work with young kids around that age, and it is hard to imagine any of them having to check their blood sugar levels all the time, get shots daily, and having visits to the ER become routine. She doesn't like to talk about it much, but her strength fighting this is amazing. She even suffered a stroke at the age of 30(only a couple years ago), and had to go through phsical therapy to relearn some of the things we all take for granted. I never really realized how diabetes can affect day to day life of someone, although my grandma passed away from diabetes complications.

Ok, so much for the sad stuff.:)I have never posted anything like this on AZ, but figured we owe it to her, since she thinks I spend more time on AZ then her at times.:) I am getting a late start with this, because I was out of state for work. May 31 is the bike race. I will try and raffle off the items on the 30th or so.

There is an option to pay with PayPal, which makes it pretty easy. That is what I used to sign up for the race. Anything is greatly appreciated....only $5 minimum. Other payment options are fine also, such as check, Wells Fargo transfer, my personal PayPal, etc. Donations are also tax deductible.

I do have a few small pool items I am going to raffle off to people who donate. Nothing much, but just a show of thanks. Big thanks to my friend Matt for donating some items. Besides the things listed, Troy from TNT Billiard Products (Koinnkid) is also going to donate some items when he gets back in town next week. I will be digging through some of my stuff also, to try and find some more items to give away. If anyone has anything they would like to donate, that would be awesome. But there will be a little more then the items listed.

Items to be raffled. (winners can choose what they would like)

1. Aramith Pro's(picture is not of exact set)

2.McDermott Lucky Cue and soft case(not pictured yet)

3. 3 Books...The 99 Critical Shots In Pool, Byrne's Complete Book Of Pool Shots, Steve Mizerak's Pocket Billiards Tips and Trick Shots

4 .Kamui Black medium tip.

5. Palmer style cue case, and ultimate tip tool.

6. 6 piece of Pre Flag Master chalk, and mix of 10 Le Pro and Triangle tips, and bridge head.

7. 'Raising The Hustler Shirt'. Figured I could give away a really cool shirt, and help Angel and her movie at the same time.

8. If anybody is the outdoors type, I will be getting some Dick's Sporting Goods gift cards, and some fishing equipment. Do not know exactly what at this time, but retail will more then likely be $50+

Thanks to those who have helped already. I am unsure of 1 person's AZ name. If they could let me know, that would be great. If they would rather stay anonymous, that is fine also.

Would i get more attention if i claimed to have proof of a Challenge of Champions dump??:(

Don't know if there is a bumping rule in the Main Forum, but I don't think there is. Either way, I always try and be courteous to everyone.

Either way, it was brought to my attention that the link I have no longer was worker. Should be all good now. (I knew there was a reason that I had no raised 10k yet ;))

I just saw this and donated a little to a good cause and great AZer. Best of luck w/your fundraiser.

Dave

P.S. you can bump this as much as you want

That's good to hear Dave. Now I can bump it every 20 minutes. :)

Thanks for the support Dave.

Will be picking up more items tomorrow. As it stands right now, it is about even money to win something...if it ended today, everyone who donated something would get something.

I love being able to show my appreciation by having almost everyone win, but that also means that I am a little surprised by the lack of support.:(

I'm afraid most people, myself included, automatically skip over titles that allude to raising money. The various bad apples from the past have soured the forum. I barely got 13 participants for a no-strings giveaway thread.
In any case, good luck and thanks for your selfless participation. Diabeetus sounds pretty cumbersome to live with.

Thanks for your support.:)

I do agree with your assessment about people maybe having a bad taste in their mouth about some bad apples in the past. I think enough people know me, so that should not even be in the equation.

Plus.....you can win stuff with this one. How can you lose? ;)

Do to work I have yet to get around to my next giveaway.
This sounds like an excellent place to pass on the set of Aramith Super Pros!

Dave >>> father has Type 2 Diabetes and it's a pain to deal with.

Just sent you $5 via paypal.
I wish I could do more, but I just lost my job and money is very tight.
Im a diabetic, what you are doing is fantastic.
All the best

This is the picture Dallas took, but they are all the same. Sorry I didn't get a chance to PM a pic last night. I'll try to remember to do it tonight when I get back from my league match.

Thanks Mike!

Also, I think I am getting some other items in the give-away you may be interested in...fishing equipment, including Dick's Sporting Goods gift card. Won't know exactly until later in the week though.

Also, I will still give the next 2 people with $20+ donations a new Ultimate Tip Tool. It retails for $19.99, so how can you go wrong helping out a good cause!:)

Race starts soon. You can still enter into the raffle for as little as $5.

Still TRYING to give away another Ultimate Tip Tool away for the next two people with $20+ donation.

Here is my cheerleader, wearing last year's jersey!
