How can anyone sell in the WFS section?

How can someone who is just wanting to sell one item compete in the WFS section with people who have 10 sticks and start 10 threads?

Those who ask their friends to bump threads, those who self bump when there is NO, I repeat NO interest in the stick. You have seen the threads where someone thinks it's cool to change bump to bumpity or morning bump, whatever it is.

You put a stick up for sale, and it's immediately on the 6th or beyond page from people who just don't play fair.

Why isn't there a rule that if you are selling multiple items, you create one thread period. Unless it's a pool table and a stick, or some derivation thereof.

The thing that put this over the edge for me, was looking at a set of numerous pool sticks in a single picture. One thread for pool stick 2 another thread for pool stick 3 etc. The everyday Joe just can't get his item in the eyes of people.

some people only care about themselves, have no sense of community and when you call them on it, they act like children. Also, they won't see this because they only visit that section and have no interest in discussing pool.

The solution would be just these three rules:

1. The seller can only bump their thread every 48 hours.

2. Nobody but the seller can post in any thread for any reason at any time--EVER (first offense that poster gets a warning, second offense they get a couple of weeks ban, etc). If you have a question, you PM the seller. If you have a complaint, you use the "report post to the mod" button.

3. Sellers must wait at least 15 days before starting a new thread in any given "category". The three categories are A) cues, B) cases, and C) everything else. Gold members only have to wait 7 days before they can start a new thread in a particular category. How many items you choose to put into each of your threads is the seller's business.

I think you would see a whole lot more gold members with these rules. First so the higher volume sellers could start threads twice as often. And second because there would be a lot more questions and comments being PM'd to the seller, and they would need the extra PM space that the gold membership gives you.

Here is the problem though (and is likely one of the main reasons you do not see the rules that are already in place enforced very strictly). AzBilliards ownership has a major conflict of interest here. The more posts this website receives and the more members they have (and laxed selling rules probably bring more members), the more the site is valued for, the more they can charge advertisers, etc. For the most part, anything that reduces post count is not in AzBilliards best business interest, regardless of the member's feelings about it. It truly is a conflict of interest, and certainly an understandable and unavoidable one.

Listing each cue individually isn't the problem.
For instance I put a lot of detail in my threads, I don't just throw a bunch of crap at the forum like so many people, especially the noobs are doing.
Too much detail with multiple cues starts to confuse the sale.
The problem is all of the other nonsense, way too many threads starting in the WFS where nothing is for sale, stupid questions all the time that do not belong in the WFS, and what about these guys looking for "WTB" nickel & dime items that I would never dream of starting a thread about.
"Hey man, I need a pink glove, anybody got one?"
There is zero moderation, by design, so people should stop *****ing about it, and stop responding to all of these incredibly stupid ridiculous threads.
Old members & new members are still bumping their sale thread one last time just to inform the world that they finally sold their overpriced piece of crap cue.
How dumb is that, and people are even responding to the idiots that have to tell everybody that they sold their cue...big ****ing deal><:mad:

That's pretty good!

I have done both. I find that listing a lot of items in one thread is much harder to deal with. I would rather list each item individually.

It should be important to remember that even though you see a listing go to "page six" it doesn't mean that it is this way for everyone. People can browse the forum in any number of ways, to include seeing the new posts, allowing the maximum # of threads on a page, changing the view order, etc....

And I firmly believe that those who like to browse the WFS section browse it regularly enough to see most if not all of the items for sale. If a person is looking for something and they can't find it then they simply post a wanted ad and the sellers of those items will magically find them :-)

Put a giant picture, that links the thread, in your signature. That's what I do, but I try to keep the picture somewhat reasonable in size.

What are you selling? I'll buy it just to get u to quit crying

There are rules...like your post is in the wrong forum!

Everybody has an excuse for why rules don't apply to them.

Don't play both sides:nono:

It just doesn't matter.

There are so few real buyers anyway.

You price stuff to move and get insulting low ball offers and trades that are way out of line. Others price so ridiculously high and bump for months and months. If it doesn't sell at you price in 3 weeks it isn't going to. If you are waiting for the market to recover...good luck with that.

Another site I visit uses the same bulletin board program. When a thread is created and someone posts in it; it does not move to the top. If you want to bump your thread to the top then you have to pay for "bumps".

Yep, I'm on another site like that too and I like it a lot! Depending upon what I'm selling sometimes I'm happy to pay for some bumps but it certainly cuts down on a lot of it. Plus I like being able to engage in a dialogue in the thread itself, lets other people see the information and questions asked. I think it can also helps sales sometimes...when you see a lot of posts or questions from other parties you start to see a demand and so you decide maybe it's something you don't want to miss out on so you pull the trigger a little quicker.

All that being said...I'm one who never misses much in the WFS section. I check it multiple times a day and always go back and review and the unseen posts (they're in bold text so it's easy to tell what is new since the last time I've looked). I'm not even actively looking for something...just don't want to miss that one perfect item that could pop up at any time.

I do think there needs to be some reevaluation of pricing if your item hasn't sold in a week or two. These multi-month threads with cues at the same price are almost comical.

Another idea I like is a forum where you can only bump once ever two weeks unless you're dropping the price by at least 5% or 10%...then you can bump to show a price decrease, helps people find where the market is for their cues a little faster when they have the bump incentive to drop the asking price.

If you have time, please PM me on how you did this.

I PM'd you, but I'll post here for reference.

First you will need the direct link to the image you wish to choose.
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5551/14487973382_65be68fce7_z.jpg

Second you will need to use the vBulletin image codes without spaces
[ IMG ]https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5551/14487973382_65be68fce7_z.jpg[ /IMG ]

Which will result in the image posted.

Third, choose the hyperlink you wish to use. Then, to link the photo to the thread. Wrap the URL code around the image, without spaces.
[ URL=http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=366685 ] [ IMG ]https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5551/14487973382_65be68fce7_z.jpg[ /IMG ] [ /URL ]

Which will look like this:

Search is nice when someone spells the cue name right, doesn't abbreviate, or puts the cue name in the title.

The thread

MONSTER CUE FOR SALE

seems to be a big one. That gets people to open the thread.

If you're not also using the search feature, then you'll doing yourself a disservice.

price it right it will sell

i have sold 38 of my cues in the for sale section, i have never bumped one of them. they are a great cue for a great value, and the cues sell themselves.

if your product is not selling there might be a reason.
