a dream come true (kaohsiung 2006 san miguel) with pictures - 08-07-2006, 01:45 AM

hello all
this week-end i had the great honour to meet the legend himself, and along with another few best players from philippines and taiwan.
i arrived on day 2 (saturday) and efren had already been eliminated from this tournament,so i was desappointed when i realized he was no longer at the venue, but resting in the hotel.

still,i met Django

and gandi

, they were both pretty friendly and after getting my pictures signed we had a bit of a chat.
i met a very different looking Wu

(his girlfriend was very very weird.... )

then i watched the 4 quarter finals, and i met gallego in the crowd

,we chatted some more and he invited me to the hotel so i could finally meet Efren.

on the 3rd day(sunday) i took this pic with the young indonesian

the nerves got the better of him i think, but good on him for reaching the semis

and the korean player

after luat won the tournament,we all went to grab a bite and back to the hotel.

as ever, the pinoys were relaxed, friendly and humble.

another family came along with a few kids, and altough efren and django were already in bed, they made a point to take pictures with all the kids and adults, signed whatever was presented to them and generally took care of the satisfaction of their fans.

a great week-end

efren watching his favorite action movie

(django's legs in the foreground, you can feel they are great friends)

IMG]http://i6.photobuck[et.com/albums/y223/mirdavanfe/pool/DSCF0062.jpg[/IMG]

with the champion,right after victory

the pinoy family,we were very few to support the pinoy players, but our commitment counted double

a very frustrated Django conceded the match,

many complains were made by several players, poor racking by the refs
,
and bad organization overall would have made an earl strickland's blood pressure shoot thru the roof, but the pinoys kept cool and composed
hsia was very very nervous

another thing i have noticed was that not a single taiwanese player came to support their last standing man in the semi finals, odd ,compared to all the pinoy "family" and the indonesians who were there to cheer on their representatives.

if anyone knows who this is....let me know

on a sidenote,
i bought a cue case and a set of aramith proTV balls
after a quick search on the net,i found the set of aramith being 189$,i got mine much, much cheaper,
are there imitations kicking around?(the box was as genuine as can be,it was wrapped with clear plastic that had aramiths logos on it,and inside there was the booklet,if it was a fake set, would they bother making it all look so genuine?

and i got a "win" cuecase

it retails at 300$ and i got mine for 122$

i'll post pics of mine soon, but if it's a copy,it's a pretty damn good one

Is the shop name Dong Yang Billiards? My friend bought a Win case when he went over for holiday,it's a cheap case and good case but it really depend on how you ventilate it too.

It's almost a year since my friend bought it. Frankly, I get to smell some weird smelling smell whenever he open up his case to reach for his cues. Could be the cushion in there I guess?
