Could this possibly be good for pool?

Interesting to ponder.

I have seen plenty of frustration and even hot-headedness over racking 9 and 10b and I thought one of these days somebody is gonna get smacked upside the noggin over this. I'm sure it must have already happened somewhere.

So I was thinking, look at howf this wwf type behavior has been embraced by NASCAR over the last few years. They're getting so much additional media coverage over this staged (yes I said staged) bad boy behavior.

These post race duelsand fisticuffs are all part of their marketing of that sport.

The fans are eating it up. And believing it's all real bad blood and the drama has them going crazy.

Why can't Shane just walk over to Dennis and put one of those Hulk Hogan body slams on him and let's see if we can get some coverage.

Could Barry Behrman be our Lou Albano?

just thinking out loud...

best,
brian kc

It would be a terrible idea.
Pool already has enough of a 'seedy' image of its own. Adding physical altercations to it isn't going to make it any more appealing to others. People have to love and want to watch the game first before adding any theatrics to mix it up a little. Chances are most people outside the pool world think this sort of thing happens already. And when they see guys like Rodney asking others to take something outside at a Mosconi Cup or Earl going off well, anywhere... it certainly doesn't bring in new viewers. It just makes a lot of the existing viewers groan and say "That's exactly what this game DOESN'T need."

B <---- thinks the fighting portion is the reason 'Pool, Poker, and Pain' never worked out.

I've been in a lot of pool halls all over and to tell the truth haven't
seen many fights. Seen a lot of people get loud but that's usually
as far as it goes. I'm not including bars with tables when I state this.

The only changes made to pool should be to please the existing viewers.

Businesses fail all the time when they dramatically change their product to attract new customers: they lose their existing customers but don't gain any new ones.
