Not to take anything away from Efren, but it's worth noting that in 2010, the Derby 10-ball event coincided with the WPA World Team championship and the field in this event was actually quite watered down.

The 2015 field is definitely the strongest yet.

Yes, last year was fantastic, too. Jay has really built a brand here, and the Bigfoot is now one of the highlights of the Derby.

Best of all, every match is in the Accu-stats arena. This is more complicated than it seems, as it means removing the nine footer and putting in the ten footer several times over the first few days. They have, however, found a way to wheel one table out and one table in like magic in no time.

Gregg Sullivan and Diamond achieve the remarkable feat of bring five different pool disciplines to the stream table: 1) bank pool, 2) one pocket, 9-ball, 10-ball and 14.1. Wow! There's something for every pool fan at the Derby.

That's fantastic. I never realized there was a logistical problem with moving the tables around until now after reading your post. that's extremely interesting. maybe they can catch the process on time delay video for a post?

I've always been impressed with the production quality in accu stats. And now even more impressed with Greg and diamond to make such an event happen. Dcc surely sounds like the epicenter for the pool universe.

i believe they solved the problem of moving tables in & out of the tv table area last year by leaving the 10 footer in that area until the bigfoot challenge was over.
Saves a lot of work for the crew & allows acustats to stream all the matches.

Interesting when comparing 2014 field v 2015 field
- average age of 2014 higher than 2015
- 2014 has more World champions, veterans and well known names
-2015 has more new fresh blood and in form players
Hypothetically, If 2015 were to play 2014, 2015 will win by a tip
:)

I'm looking forward to watching Reuben Bautista play. He's a guy I've seen on west coast streams and youtube vids and it looks like he can really play. I'm interested to see him on the big stage against great players.

At the beginning, yes. By the time you get to the semis, the 10-ball doesn't fill the day in the Accu-stats arena, so, I seem to recall, you get both bank pool and 10-ball matches in the arena, necessitating some table moving.

Of course, who knows how it will be handled this year.

sjm -- I think the plan last year was to leave the 10-footer in place until the end of the 10-ball in the early evening on Monday, then swap for a 9-footer and show the semi's and finals of the Banks on Monday night.

But that plan was changed, I think because of delays in playing 10-ball matches caused by players being involved in other matches. So the finals of the 10-ball started after 10pm on Monday.

The first time we saw any 9-footer matches -- One-Pocket and Bank Pool -- was on Tuesday.

But, as you note, we do not yet know what the plan is for this year.

The only thing we're sure of is that Diamond will do whatever it takes to make the Derby the greatest show on earth.

Would love to see the break stats for the 10-footer. Will you be keeping them?

The Bigfoot challenge is my absolute favorite event to watch. Playing 10 ball on a ten footer with 4.5" pockets.....wow,,,, ((((((((((((((((((((( shudder ))))))))))))))

I'll have to miss it most of Friday, but should be watching and keeping notes after that.

You need to find an AtLarge Jr., someone who will be able to keep stats when you are unavailable, kind of like a sidekick. Maybe we can call him AtSmall.
