Blomdah vs Jewett at Sang Lee's Tonight

I watched a perfect game by Cueleman at fast pace, mostly natural shots, average around 2 playing against a 0.7 player... Then I went on watching pool. You'd ask, " Why would you do that when all the top world class 3 cushion players?" right?

Torbjorn Blomdahl against our very own Bob Jewett, 200 pt straight pool. Bob was shooting well in the beginning and then Torbjorn got in the groove. The game ended 200-132 with a run of 54 by Torbjorn.

Then we asked if he would like to try some one pocket... Torbjorn had a 8 and out. Bob had an awesome break and run. The score ended 5-4. Bob was playing and coaching every basic rules and moves at the same time.

These were mostly just friendly social games. They played 3-4 hours.

Only 2 layouts for tonight:p :

Later I set up 2 shots for Torbjorn to try. He hung the ball by the pocket on both 2nd tries. (It was late and we didn't continue trying)

Shot 1 (bank shot with transferred English, both balls 1 ball away from rail)
Shot 2 (a jump bank, the CB went staight up in the air as the OB passed)

On your two test shots at the bottom, I can visualize how to execute the first bank, but not the jump bank.

Can anybody explain how to shoot that shot?

thanks

I've played straight pool against Bob Jewett a couple times. The last time I started to rummage a pen and find a piece of paper because there were no beads or scoring wheels. He stopped me and said don't worry about it. He then proceeded to learn me some straight pool keeping score for both of us in his head.

What *is* in that briefcase, anyway?

... wish that Wei guy can make a tool to show profile views (or better yet, 3D) :p

Meanwhile, hope this will do, the solution is on the second page (use the page arrow to go here or click on the table once and press <Page Up>, <Page Down> on your keyboard):

Jump-Bank (2 pages)

I first saw it done by Tony Robles. Blomdahl almost made it on the 2nd try late last night. After I set up the shot, he thought for a second and went right ahead and shot it, as if he's done it before

Hi Mike:

How goes the place?

While keeping Bob's privacy a secret, I am happy and honored to say he added some table layout note pads last night. He will draw more interesting diagrams for all pool players in the future.

I would propose the jump-bank is done with high/inside english and about a 30 deg. angle on the cue...

He was willing to play some more later in the week, but I had to go, sadly.

My break and run was from hitting the wrong ball on the break and making a ball. It would have been a sell-out if the ball hadn't lucked in. My excuse is that we were both playing with his carom cue.
