Here are some results from CSI's Tiger Challenge 2015 -- Shane Van Boening vs. Mike Dechaine in 10-Ball -- played July 23 at the Rio Las Vegas Hotel & Casino with pay-per-view streaming by CSI. Van Boening won 21-13.

The conditions for this call-shot 10-ball match included the following: 7-foot Diamond table with pro-cut pockets, Simonis 860 Tour Blue cloth, Magic Ball Rack, Cyclop balls, jump cues allowed, alternate breaks from anywhere behind the head string, breaker racks for himself, and foul on all balls.

Van Boening broke 17 times, with the following results:
  • Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and won the game -- 11 (65%)
  • Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and lost the game -- 1 (6%)
  • Broke dry or fouled but won the game -- 2 (12%)
  • Broke dry or fouled and lost the game -- 3 (18%)

Dechaine broke 17 times, with the following results:
  • Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and won the game -- 9 (53%)
  • Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and lost the game -- 6 (35%)
  • Broke dry or fouled but won the game -- 0 (0%)
  • Broke dry or fouled and lost the game -- 2 (12%)

For the two players combined, the breaker made at least one ball and did not foul 79% of the time (27 of 34), won 65% of the games (22 of 34), won 74% of the games (20 of 27) in which he made a ball on the break, broke and ran 41% of the games (14 of 34), and broke and ran 52% of the games (14 of 27) in which he made a ball on the break.

Break-and-run games -- on all breaks:
  • Van Boening -- 7 of 17 (41%)
  • Dechaine -- 7 of 17 (41%)
  • Total -- 14 of 34 (41%)

Break-and-run games -- on successful breaks (made at least one ball and did not foul):

Great work on the stats.
What jumped out at me was the average length of a rack 3.7 minutes.
The safety play was either kept at a minimum because of the 7 foot table, or the opportunity to jump at the run out was greater by the 7-foot table.

Like you said, one good thing about the upcoming 7-foot tournaments is that finally we will have a sample size of matches that can give us a great comparison to other 9-foot table tournaments in 10-ball and 8 ball.

And in 10-ball we can compare 10-foot stats as well from the big foot challenge.

I'm really looking forward to your future threads on the subject.
