Poll: Have you improved in the past year? Explain why/how...

Definitely have improved.
I still practice the same number of hours.

My life has continued to improve. Learning new things everyday.
Optimizing my diet to ensure "power foods" everyday.
Improving family and friend relationships.
Managing my stress for the better.

The result: my pool game is improving all right.

I have gotten better because I try to play the best players in the room. My shape and speed is better but my safety play has improved dramatically just by watching the A players that I play with.

I took about 10 years off and recently started playing a lot again. I am working on weaknesses i didnt know i had and have improved quite a bit

i started playing competitively about a year and 2 months ago. Before that I played a couple sessions in APA and I was a 4, took a 13 month deployment, came back and found pool was my serenity. Now I am a 8 and rated an A player.

Gaining slowly.... But gaining! Lots of time playing the better players seems to be the biggest factor so far.

* wish I had started this crap earlier *

Playing better, but as for beating my old self...he would surely outlast the today me.

improved alignment, stance, eye pattern, grip, and most importantly mental discipline. weakness banks. will work on banks later this month.

I have definitely improved. I dedicate 40-60 hours a week practicing and shooting. I shoot more than practice. I focus on fundamentals. I try not to gamble very much. I feel it is not the best way for me to improve my game.

Also I really ONLY play big tables. Every once in a while I'll play a bar table tournament. I find a place with a nice tight table and spend hours working on my game. There has to be a balance as well. Take time to have fun and relax as well.

I have gotten much worse. JB would have to spot me 9-7 now.

Why? I dan't know. Why does the phone alway ring when you're in the shower.

How. It happens.

I feel like my game's been on the decline for the last 6 months or so, some days I'll see flashes of decent play, but terrible more often than not.

I think it's that time again where I need to go back and rework the kinks out of my game.
I feel like a lot of the old habits (playing too fast, inconsistent stance, poor pre-shot routine, etc.) have started to creep back in lately.

In the last three years I probably have less than 60 hours of play total.

In the past I would play at least that in a normal month...

My game is nowhere near as sharp as it once was. Funny enough with about 4 hours of practice over a couple days a few months ago I managed a 6-pack from the break in 8-ball still. I do think I could get back to my former peak level I was pretty quickly with some time on the table and some competitive play to get the nerves back.

A waste of talent... Don't work yourself to death !

Much worse. I've taken two 7 or 8 week breaks from pool since Mid December 2014. In fact as of right now I haven't hit a pool ball since the end of May. For me this is shocking as I was a guy who was hitting pool balls 3,4 and 5 days a week at times. Some days I would be practicing and working on my game and others playing folks cheap sets or head to head for practice purposes. I did this for a long time too!

Why the big change? Trying to keep my business going and help look after my dad has beat me down physically and mentally and I have no real desire to go to the pool hall to practice around, let alone try and match up or be around the stupid behavior that often takes place in the pool halls. Pool right now seems like a waste of ****ing time and energy and I'm afraid if I start back up I'll get hooked in again and I'm not sure I want to be involved in it anymore. It is funny how much easier it is to not want to go play as time passes from the last time I played. Whew........

Oddly enough today I was thinking about heading over to hit some in the afternoon one day this week...maybe I will. Don't know. This might just be a few long breaks from pool and I get it going again on the regular or I may be done. Maybe my priorities have changed too?
