This was a race to 6 sets, with each set being a race to 9 games. If it had reached a 5-5 tie in sets, the 11th set would have been to 11 games. Appleton won 6 sets to 1, with scores, in order, of: 9-7, 7-9, 9-2, 9-5, 9-8, 9-8, and 9-7 (total 61-46).
