Robert Harris Custom Cue Comp transaction HELP?!?


Well where do I begin, I asked Robert Harris to start a build with three custom cues .I must say that there were certain things I liked about his work so i gave him an opportunity to build me 3 different designs ,the time frame was 1 year at the most with 3 months for each build..So I gave him specs of what I wanted and once we agreed on a price I gave him a down payment . I gave him a down payment for all 3 cues because I trusted him and since he has had many deals on AZ. All this was done in june of 2014. Fast forward to today all i have received is a recut designed cue . Also id like to mention that the agreed upon price was 1500 for the first cue , 2000 for the second and 2000 for the 3rd. I have given him $ 3500 thus far. Only because on one of the designs that I had silver incorporated into it and ivory for all 3 cues. He has posted pictures of the builds , one of them being the copper crown but cap which was supposed to be on one of my cues. At this point after 2 1/2 years back and forth with him and Mr Harris giving me excuses about the builds ( even though he has sold countless cues ) I'm so disappointed with this whole situation . I have all transactions of the money order and paypal transactions also . I don't like posting negative things about someone who makes his bread and butter from but at this point its money that i have worked hard for only . So I'm posting this on AZ so I can let people know and also for Mr. Harris to make it right.
 
Did you do much research on him before ordering? Reason i ask is this guy has pretty bad track record with other AZer's. Your tale of woe is much like others in the past.
 
This was 2 1/2 years ago . Back then I knew a few people that had bought cues from him but I never heard anything negative.
 
Well I have my attorney ready with all the paperwork needed but i kind of wanted to share my story on AZ to make sure no one does something stupid like this .

Its funny he also told me he is bankrupt so heads up on that also . Thats for the people he told me he has waiting for his cues for twelve years.

Be careful,If he files bankruptcy your Money will be gone for good.Don't You just love the good Ol' USA?
 
This is a bad situation for the OP and for all of us, even though we are not directly involved.

Let's see if Hr, Harris can get this straightened out now that the dirty laundry is on the clothes line.

He can make this situation go away but he needs to address this pro-actively to the OP's satisfaction.

The industry doesn't need more bad cue-makers; every time something like this happens, it sucks.

People become skeptical about ordering custom cues & cue-makers are viewed to be unreliable.

I won't name specific cue-makers but there's some that exceed your expectations each & every time.

This time that didn't happen but the ball is now with Mr. Harris; I do hope he will make things right fast.

Thanks Matt I appreciate your input, you along with 9 of us had a custom built by one Jerry -R- and I'm sorry I have to let everyone know when someone treats me right . I did not expect something like this on AZ Billiards , But I mI have made many friends on here also I have made many smooth transactions . I would of addressed this much earlier but I have been dealing with health issues and I never got the time to put forth the energy to deal with it .
 
A few of these deadbeat cue makers need to do some time in jail. They are thieves. SOME OF THEM. Johnnyt

Tell me about it I should have gone with a maker with a stack of reputation . But once again 2 1/2 years I heard nothing bad about him. I just can't get over how there are "cue makers " like this on AZ and if this isn't the only time he's done this how is he still allowed on here ? Aside from the jokes this should be monitored somehow just like Ebay . I have seen zero negative Itrader remarks against him , so if he has done his again where is the itader feedback ?

Sorry to hear you have not received your other 2 cues. I did hear (from him) very recently that Robert had been seriously ill and hospitalized with resperatory problems, down for over 4 months. He's just begining to recover and get back to work. Not making excuses for anyone but no cue work was going on for anyone during that time. I'd be shocked if Robert didn't make the situation right. Up to this point in time he's been a man of his word with me.
 
Up until this post, I would have ordered a custom from Mr. Harris.
I've admired some of the sleeve designs he's used, original or not.
When you see a design that looks clean and pretty, that's enough
to get me interested. And like I wrote, I've admired his cue-making.

I cannot explain what happened nor why but there are bound to be
some underlying circumstances that only petes66 and Mr. Harris are
entitled to know about. I am not suggesting there is an excuse for
what's happened but there's got to be some extenuating circumstances.

Anyway, now that the Az community is becoming involved, nothing but
worse will come from this already bad situation unless Mr. Harris comes
forth and straightens this out which I sincerely hope he decides to do quickly.

Like I wrote, this is horrible but I am not ready to throw the towel in on Harris
Custom Cues, at least not just yet. But rest assured, if this doesn't get fixed,
I'm a much worse enemy than friend & I'm considered to be a great friend too.
Well, the Az community is basically the same.......it can help or hurt business.

Robert, make me proud and don't leave me hanging in the breeze on this one.
You need to get this fixed fast or you will suffer financially a lot worse than the
price of these 3 cues. Your reputation is your brand and right now, your brand
isn't doing too good. Do not ruin it because recovering a good reputation is not
only a daunting challenge but critically important for any thriving enterprise.

Refund the money you have to OP and then sell the cues later to someone else
or offer the cues to the OP but step up to the plate on this opportunity to try and
turn chicken shit into chicken salad. It won't taste any better but it looks a lot
better than the status quo which will go downhill fast if you do not act quickly.
