I was contacted earlier today, by several sources with information that 2 more employees have been fired and unfortunately, the news that everyone questioned, (but in reality was only a matter of time) the Chicago event has been canceled. Apparently, there was a meeting today to discuss this, and from what I have been told, but cannot completely confirm, that it's over.

Directly after hearing this, I called Deno and left him a message of what I had heard, asking him to please either confirm, deny or comment on it. But, Deno has elected not to answer my repeated phone calls. I went on to say in my message, that this was to important not for it to go out, and I needed to know now. He is aware that I am a staff writer for AZB ,and I felt compelled to give him the opportunity to address this, but as the clock winds down it looks there is nothing left to say.

I am going to address this all day tomorrow, and get to the bottom of it. I sincerely hope that is not true, but unfortunately it does not look good. I have an extremely long interview with Deno, and out of courtesy, was going to send to Deno first, but since he has elected not to respond, it will be a cover story shortly.

Please understand that I am doing my best to get you the correct information, but I am currently up against many obstacles that I need to hurdle first.

Please don't unpack the bags, but don't pack them either!

how utterly shocking! i knew this all along, i mean i didn't think it would be cancled,but i knew these ipt people wer'e full of it. they lied, openly lied when they said the checks didn't arrive! bull! there wer'e never any checks,and let them say otherwise!

Bernie ~ Please keep in mind that I need to make further inquires. I would never ever mean to give anyone false information, and as I have stated, I need to completely confirm this. Just be forewarned.

yes i understand that, but let me lay my cards out on the table, look, the ipt chose me to be on the ipt, for that, i was happy, the ipt paid me $2,000 for vegas, for that i was happy, but hey, lieing about the checks at reno?!!!! then giving us story after story? listen kevin, pay us with your own funds now, or close the doors on the ipt,this is not a good situation!

Thanks for going out on a limb and posting this. Many wouldn't have the courage to follow their instincts. No matter how this turns out we appreciate you.

the thing is it's hard to believe chicago was canceled for one reason~~~~~it would cost the ipt millions upon millions of dollars if they broke their contract with the venue. it makes more sense for them to show up, and in post production make it look like a tournament took place, sort of like the moon landing.

Bernie, that venue will not cost them millions upon millions.

Relax and go take a couple of valium and enjoy a bottle of wine. I'm thinking it'll take at least that to get you off this adrenaline rush you've been on the last couple of days. ;)

This is true to some extent, (not in the millions) but if they have a cancellation clause, in which I know they do, and this would be the time for it to have happened. They stand to loose way more money with the room guarantee and extra's this venue will cost them.

I have personally worked with this convention center before. I am in possession of what a standard contract looks like coming from this center. There are always addendums attached, in which their's I am not privy to, but I can assure you that it would be less of a hit to take, by canceling it.

Eydie, if this is true, and the event is cancelled, I doubt whether the convention center will receive one single cent, as per any cancellation clause. They will just go on the list of unpaid creditors. Again, if this is correct information.

Must have been a tough call, I think you made it correctly.

To find out if the Chicago event is still on it maybe easier and quicker to track the Rosemont Convention Center Schedule at:

http://rosemont.com Then drag down "Visitors" from the Menu Bar and select the first item "Convention Center Events", finally move to the November calendar.

Presently the Chicago event is still on their calendar.

On the other hand, they may be the last to know.
 
Chicaco Canceled ?

I'm speechless. I never saw this coming. Why didn't someone mention this possibility ? We might have discussed it and found a solution. This sucks. I feel really badly for the players and pool. I'm depressed.... AGAIN

It has been toast since September 10th when the players didn't get paid. If you choose to want to believe the multitude of lies, then you have no one to blame at this point, but yourself.

You can drink wine with Valium? This sounds like a diabolical plot to send Bernie to the great pool hall in the sky. ;) :eek:

I would assume that given Bernie's extreme energy, he would be able to survive it. It might damage someone else but I think the combonation would simply act as a sedative for the evening... enough for him to calm down and go to sleep. ;)
