posting someone else's eBay listing thread

This is personal pet peeve of mine but I still don't understand why people post eBay listings where they are not the seller and have no interest in the cue.

To quote Von Rhett, "If it's your cue, fine. Or your best friends. Or you have some other legitimate reason why you should be pointing it out - fine. Like alerting teh AZ Community that a cue is a scam."

I guess I don't see it as a "public service" since they don't know the cue or the seller.

I'm being selfish, but at times I like to pick up a cue for cheapest price possible, do my homework and do not want additional competition.

If I'm selling on eBay and wanted additional exposure, I'd post a thread here. If I was the seller on eBay and also a member of AZ community, I'm fairly sure I don't want someone else to announce my listing here before I do.

Just venting ...

amen

i couldn't agree more. if you have any intrest in the listing, perhaps a friend, anything thats fine ,but all it does is pimp the people that find it and are watching and bidding. i think most of the time it just drives the price up. look at the frey s/p that someone was posting the link to the auction. someone posted the link and it was 250, i know , i was watching it. it sold for more than the seller said it cost new. that buyer probably got his bid jacked up. mind ya p's & q's action killers!! jmo/

So now you want rules that you can't post about a cue for sale unless it's your's or someone you know? Please...........

Awwwwhh...come on Jazz, be a sport and don't be a "bottom feeder". You know it's not cool to try to get a deal, especially on eBay, where it seems there's nothing but crooks these days.

Sean (of course I'm being facetious and totally agree with you)

You know how I feel about this crap. Guys don't have a life, don't want to buy the cue in question, think they're doing someone a favor by pointing it out and all they do is ruin a good deal.

And after the above quote from Jazz, I went on to say:

"just pointing out why bringing attention to a "great value" is a self-defeating endeavour. See, by telling thousands of people what a great lil' bargain you came across, it will no longer be a great bargain."

Guilty as Charged!

I did post about an auction this morning, but since it was a reserve auction, and the reserve had not been met yet, and because it was a Titlist conversion, which are being highly sought after right now here, I thought I was doing a service to any interested AZers.

My bad...it won't happen again!

Rule? I don't make the rules here.

All I'm seeking is opinions of others on the subject. If others agree with me, that's fine. If they disagree, that is fine as well.

Ebay Tipoffs

Personally, I consider reading AZ as part of my 'homework' on looking for cues and appreciate someone posting a cue that is on ebay. If someone posts that they're bidding on it I don't bid, but I do enjoy looking.

I have passed on a couple of auctions where the winning bid was someone from the forum.
I have to agree with Jazz that at times you hope to pick up a cue that may have gone under the radar screen.

I agree with Jazz also.
Only scams should be listed to stop someone from getting ripped off. Only the lister should be advertising their goods on AZ forums.
Their are alot of good honest sellers on Ebay, you just have to weed out the ones with questionable feedback and bid accordingly.

Me too!!
A couple of times recently I have also passed on bidding on a cue or case when I recognized a familiar name from AZbilliards even though I might have been able to turn it quickly to a buyer. Hope what comes around goes around. Besides, it's very difficult to buy a cue or case right thru eBay. Most of the time I pay closer to retail anymore.

I totally agree. I'll be brave and hazard a guess that if your selling a mid/high end cue on ebay your going to know about this site and if you wanted to post it here they would. To be honest i see a lot more bargains on here than i do on ebay (joss west $400 - blackcreek with 4 shafts $750)

Shhh!! Don't tell anyone about that Blackcreek (it is just our secret...no one else knows...right?).....actually, I almost had that JW for $400 also, but I missed out on that JW by 1 minute. Someone was quicker typing than I was.

I'd say that the JW was the best deal I've seen on here this week but the Blackcreek was a very close second! I actually saw the JW a minute after it was posted and was absolutely kicking myself for not having any spare cue cash. :(

Fine, I disagree then.
