Makes sense for folks in Europe.
There are very few players who can reasonably expect to make any money going to that or nearly any other pool tournament. You have to want to play in pool tournaments for other reasons. A glance at the AZB money leader board makes that pretty clear: http://www.azbilliards.com/people/Only if subsidized, if not it is still cost prohibitive.

Pool is an expensive hobby for most, a break-even hobby for a few, and a worth while profession for maybe one pool player in a million. Or maybe one in 10 million.
Do you mean in reference to the US Mosconi Cup team? Isn't that the tournament they are playing in? If so, its not about the money, but the training. Rocky 4![]()

How so? It's 1200 miles from Berlin to Moscow. Direct flight.
That's the same as flying from NY to Dallas.
To put it in perspective, it's 2700 miles from NY to LA.
If you're from Berlin Germany:
airfare--------------------$200
hotel room 6 nights---$480
food 6 days ------------$150
entry fee-----------------$170
total-----------------------$1,000
Just off the top of my head. I personally think my numbers are probably low considering I'm not factoring in taxes, ground transport etc.
OK, so it's just like American pool tournaments then. Agreed
