Okay, this is one that most everyone can get involved in! There are lots of different s/p's and hustlers out there, from all different makers. So...show us what YOU have!!:D

Over the last year or so, I have come to appreciate the often overlooked beauty of these cues. Often, because they are free of embellishment, they are the perfect palette for some amazing wood choices. I thought this would be a great opportunity to give the s/p the respect that it deserves.

Paul Allers

Here's my other one, from a local maker, Paul Allers out of Oak Harbor, WA. This one is Indian rosewood, and is 60" long.

So Hunter, which one is your favorite? They all look great. Are the weights and balances pretty much the same? Nice collection....Curly

Here's mine!!!

Not sure if this would fall into the sneaky category...'cuz it's got all kinds of embellishment....but hey...there's no wrap!! :)

Thanks Curly! They are pretty close in weight, but the balance is a little different on each cue.

The Omega/DPK is the rarest (one of only ten in existence) and the hit is really solid. It's a low profile sneaky that only has a black band for embellishment.

The Wheeler has the nicest wood. It is absolutely stunning purpleheart (even though the picture isn't the best). The hit is just like a Schick sneaky (might have something to do with their proximity!).

The Baker is very solid and a true sneaky. Nice black ebony body with a long butt section.

The Rubino has a great piece of bocote and is unique looking for a sneaky (where does Paul dream up these combos? Red, white, and blue "patriot rings" on a bocote cue...).

The JW Petree hits with the best of them. Pete jazzed up a Dufferin cue (and I like Dufferin house cues) and the hit is very much like a one piece cue.

To answer which is my favorite? The first one I grab out of the case on my way to the poolhall...;)

Regards,

Steve

Rat,

It might be a "sneaky" if you were playing a guy with a white cane and dark glasses! All that rascal doesn't have is training wheels and a rearview mirror :D ... Nice cue, pal!

Regards,

Steve

Hunter, I really like the Rubino! Who would have thought that the ring color combo would work, but it surely does!

Thanks to all, so far, for sharing their sneakies! There is so much diversity apparent already!

Mark, my 9yo step-daughter was here looking over my shoulder and saw your Callaluca....didn't even know she was there til I heard this.."OOOOhhhhhh, I REALLY like that one!" :D She's already developing great taste in cues. ;)

Sneaky Petes?!

4 not-so-sneaky-petes!

1-4 from left to right and top to bottom.

1 - Bocote into Bird's-eye. My main playing cue. The highly figured bocote draws a ton of attention. Gnarly was one response. 07/2006

2 - Bocote into Plain Maple. I put a break shaft on this one. 07/2006

3 - Cocobolo into Bird's-eye. I carry this one to show off...lol I sometimes play with this cue. It draws alot of attention. 10/2006

4 - Bocote into Bird's-eye. I made this one for my 11yr old son. The forearm has a bit of figure in it and the bocote is not too shabby. 07/2006

All Cues were built by me this year.

Thanks for looking.

Lisa,

Your Josey is awesome! Is that the cue you're trying to trade for a Josey with more of a wood grain?

I'd like to see a close up picture of your Allers. The wood is a very interesting color. Do you usually use a 60" cue?

Great thread, Lisa!

That is one purdy looking cue there Mark.
I'm not a big fan of cues with no wraps but that is stunning.

Thanks Steve for the info. It must be nice to just pick one and go..any old one!! I'll bet they all play excellent. I think I'll add a couple more sp to my collection. The only sp that I have is a Donald Bludworth and ordered a Josey due in a month. I noticed that Bob Dzuricky from Erie PA has some sp on his website. I kinda was interested in a butterfly sp. that Diveney makes.

Thanks, ya'll, for the nice words.

The J.C. is about as far from "sneaky" as a sneaky can get.....but I just HAD to share.

I got this cue from Bama....and based upon the looks, balance, hit, and quality of this cue, I almost feel like I robbed him blind on the deal. Ya'll saw how many cues I sold over the last few days....and of the top name maker's cues I could've kept, I chose to keep this one. THAT, I think, says alot about how great a cue Mr. Callaluca makes.

Thanks for the comments, Steve!! I actually won some money with this cue.......playing heads-up with a guy with a white can and dark glasses!! :) (hey....a win is a win!!!)

Lisa - Your step-daughter has good taste! You must've taught her well! Of course, she learned to appreciate the finer things, what with your previous Skip and your Josey!

Thanks much, Koop. The cue actually causes mild bouts of drooling from time to time! :)

Hey Steve....yes, this is the Josey in question...I finally got off my duff and took some pics today...lol. I am currently awaiting to see some pics of some new s/p's coming from Keith this week, and will make a final decision at that time. If it doesn't pan out, I will wait until I can afford to order another one from Keith.
I suspect that y'all will be seeing the new ones coming in before long.;)

As to the Allers, as a rule, I do not play with a 60" cue. I purchased this one to get me thru two separate leagues last year while I was awaiting my Skip to be completed. I thought I would give the 60" a try, and found I prefer the standard 58". This one may actually be up for sale sometime in the next couple of weeks. Yes, it is a lighter shade of Indian rosewood....what I liked about the cue was it has a natural butterfly in the grain in the butt. I'll see about some close-up pics sometime tomorrow. This is a rare one for Paul, as his are almost always cocobolo....but I do like my rosewoods!:D

Bob Dzuricky makes a great sp imho. Wish I still had mine. He's incredibly easy to deal with as well.
