What people typically refer to when they say Runde era Schons are the sharp pointed Schons. Schon no longer makes cues with sharp points. Not all cues made when Runde was with Schon had sharp points, but the pointed cues are favored by collectors.

Good Rolls,

I'm not sure there is anything so special about them.

They are, 20 - 25 year old, hand built cues that play wonderfully. The craftsmanship is very good, the materials are top notch. Just good cues. In my opinion they are way undervalued.

Bob Runde did build these particular cues, with the exception of the one on the far right.

I have a friend that know Runde fairly well and has been told that the stitch work around the joint is usually a give-away that it is a Runde Schon......my .02

The biggest difference between schons pre Clark and post Clark is cored forearms. You can still get sharp pointed cues made by Clark, and you can still get stiched rings, and you may even be able to get him to dug up a yellow micarta ferrule. They traded in the pantograph and plates for a CNC mill, but there is no difference in the inlays, and the cues are still hand made.

One more thing. In the late eighties, the girl that worked the counter and lets us buy cues directly, rather than through a dealer, said that they made 200-300 per year. I hear that they now number in the thousands annually.

Kind of curious, I shoot with a R12 with fancy rings it has steel blue veneers. What would it be worth, lets say at 85%, i have never looked into it.

Didn't some of the late R series have the silver ring through?

Yes, after 1986 silver rings were the norm and stitched rings were an option that you could order. If you post some pics of your R12, someone here may give you an idea of the value.

No Schon Love

OK, so I am putting this cue away. No longer for sale.

Am I the only Schon lover out here? Seriously, why wouldn't a mid 1980's all Ebony Runde Schon get any takers at $700.???? I thought it was a deal??

Can you post up a closer pic of the butt?

Would love to see a closer pic of the butt.
Is there any markings that say Runde?
