314-2 recall

anyone know about this? sorry if it has been addressed already

Never heard about it. Nothing on google. Nothing on Predator's site or Seyberts. Where is this info coming from?

I had this info (or something very similar to it) confirmed by a local Predator dealer and friend of mine. He was suspect of my initial info from a dealer who had sold me a new Z shaft, but when I got independent confirmation of that story, he then contacted Predator and they basically said "sorry, we didn't tell you about this problem, but we're offering replacement ferrules to anybody who wants one". I don't think that Predator has made any kind of official press release kind of statement yet though.

Predator 314 2 and Z2 problem

There was another thread started yesterday I think in the For Sale Section. Everyone was saying the problem is with the ferrules on the 2nd gen shafts. I checked into it with a dealer I know and he said he had one returned and contacted Predator and found that they are running about one in every 30 shafts having a problem with the ferrules coming off etc. They apparently said it is due to some of the ferrules not being put on straight but off center and they are working to correct it. Any problem shafts are being reworked or replaced I guess. There is No Recall at this point and they don't intend to from what I understand.

Predator told me at Valley Forge that predator will replace the ferrule on the 314 2 shafts for free if they are sent in. I was told the glue being used by the new maker in China is causing the ferrules to come off.

Yikes. Who is making these things these days, anyway? Sheesh.

I love new and not so improved products comming out of China. They update the item, in theory, but forget to worry about quality control.

I guess you can afford to do massive amounts of warranty work when you are getting your product for pennies on the dollar anyways.

My buddy has this problem he took it to predator and they pulled his ferrule right off.......1hr before he was up in the 9 ball open!!!The sent it down to D&D repair and they glued it back on and told him to let it there sunday after the show and they will replace and even out the high lip on his 314-2.From what they say it was a 3rd part added to the (china) epoxy and it did not set correctly.
