3-Cushion Billiards on ESPN May 6, promo video here

EDIT - THIS WILL AIR IN JUNE 2007

As many of you are aware, Semih Sayginer will be challenged on ESPN2 by Eric Yow (me) and Mike Massey in two thirty minute shows, to air on May 6. In my estimation, Semih is the best of the best in what he does on the Billiard table and it is an honor to compete with him. Mike is arguably the best on the pool table and I'm not too bad myself, but neither of us play 3 cushion. At least, we didn't before we started practicing for this challenge! Now, we're on top of things. Well, I guess you should be the judge of that.

Below is the promo video that I made of our practice last weekend in NYC, working at Carom Cafe with Miguel Torres. (btw, he's awesome!) Check it out! I put it on youtube for convenience sake, but you can download a higher quality version (70mb) at my website if you like.

Take note that each shot is a legal billiard, though very "artistic" in nature. So, be prepared when watching the show "Artistic Billiards Grand Master" on ESPN2 to see all legal billiards - no props, no bridges, no snapple bottles, nothing! The only thing extra that might be on the table is a pin (like a marker) for us to encircle or travel beyond before seeing a nasty masse take action on the felt. Enjoy!

Your comments will be welcomed and considered diligently during production of the show.

Eric I just wanted say congrats on what you have achieved thus far in your pool career. Keep up the good work and good luck in your future endeavors.

Eric! This video a keeper!!! Thank for sharing. Since I know both Massey and you use a Dieckman Masse Cue. Were you practice Artistik shot with a pool or carom cue? What Cues will you be using during the Exhibited? I hope you are able to soak up most of Sayginer knowledge. This will only help on your road to becoming an artistic champion. What a great thrill and opportunity this must be for you. Again Congratulation!

Three comments:

1) I'm very much looking forward to seeing this on May 6th.
2) That shot at 5:06 is absolutely sick. It makes me never want to shoot a masse shot again.
3) Shoot the relay race on ESPN!

Eric, Great Videos!!

I am happy you showed just some highlights of the shot selection... ( We don't want Semih to see too much before the competition right?.... :) :) :) )

All kidding aside, Mike and Eric both have got even more stuffs in the bag.

With Mike and Eric representing US, we have a great chance to challenge Semih, who has been considered the best in the world.

Everyone please be sure to turn on the TV and watch this historic moment. It's not just super cool, it's mind-blowing!

For anyone who was planning to attend this in person this Sunday (April 1st) in Gardena, please note that it has been postponed due to a scheduling conflict. New arrangements TBD.

DP - thanks!
BS - I use Dieckman masse cues and alternate between using a pool cue and a carom cue for the stroke shots. It's tough to get use to the billiard taper when you're so used to a pool cue. For regular gameplay I'm using a carom cue all the way. But, for most of my shots, I'm sticking with my pool cue.

The shot Miguel did at 5:06 is called the Grand Masse (at least in the Netherlands it is). I shot it for the video too but I don't know if I'm going to use it on ESPN. It's a tough one.

I'm greatly looking forward to the show! Thanks again Wei, for your support and encouragement. You get your car situation situated?

Thank Bob!Please keep us info.

Yeah, I just bought three 3-C DVDs from Accu-Stats, as a direct show of support for Pat and show of derision for YouTube piracy, and Sanginer v Jaspers is one of the videos.

I'm sure it will be one of my favorite DVDs...

Were other people able to download the high-quality vid from Eric's web site? I got page not found.

Sorry, I fixed the link on my site. I appreciate the head's up. I had the code written to .mpeg and it was .mpg. Funny how that works. ;)

The high quality version link works now.

Russ, you should get the 2005 Sang Lee artistic exhibition dvd from High Rock Productions.
