with a 12.5mm i think it's better off as a heavy player. i hear purple heart hits great too. looks good man

i meant that i weighed it with a different shaft from another cue
i haven't made the shaft for this cue yet
sorry for the confusion

My playing cue is 20.3oz, so I'm sure you can guess my opinion.... :)

funny, but my break cue is 19.2

It's got the phenolic in the middle of the butt ready to be cut into a joint, though, no?...

Perhaps not quite orthodox, but I can tell you that if I had the cue, I'd wanna use it for all purposes. As a break cue and a playing cue (and maybe a jumper depending on tip, ferrule, and shaft taper)!

Put a nice 13mm shaft on there with a phenolic ferrule and hard leather tip, add the jump joint, and voila! Only thing is the jump joint is gonna add some more weight on top of 20oz, huh? That may be an issue...

I don't know how many people out there play regularly with such a heavy cue...

personally I'd make it into a playing cue. I know I break better with a lighter cue than a heavier one.

Player cue

I think you should put a good shaft on it and use it as a player cue. I like light weight break cues and this cue would be too heavy for me to break with.

way ahead of ya ;) already got the new shaft & rings together with a few coats of clear on it.
i wish i would have made two, a player & jb.
i may still do that.
you just never know what i'll do next

Suggestion

I play with a 20.2 oz cue, but my J&J Break/Jump is 19.5 oz.

Playing cue, definately.

How did you make your rings? They look great.. As always I love the finish work you do. I am driving to Chicago this weekend to pick up my lathe for spraying clear coat. So I'm sure I'll be talking to you soon with some questions.

this is my second cue that i made the rings
again, they are not PERFECT :(
one of the small pcs of holly on the joint is smaller width than the other 7
just pointing it out up front

cue is 21oz, 58.50", 13mm LBM ferrule with Lepro tip
$225 plus shipping ( $25 off for my goof on rings)

Ok Ok can we work some thing out.........lOl
I hope you enjoy your new cue......

Got the cue a few days ago and it is most likely going to stay with me unless someone offers me a ridiculus amount. The purple isn't as bright as the picture shows. It is more of a dark rich purple. I have been using it as my one hole cue. The cue looks and plays great. You did a good job Brent.
