Since you asked, I will offer up an opinion. Barry is the son of a legend, one of the fathers of American cue making. Not to mention Barry has become a legend in his own right carrying on that tradition. It is about reverence. Your cuemaker is just another nobody in a sea of countless other nobody cue makers today. But, they are nice looking cues for what they are and probably play alright as do most cues today.

didnt degrade anyones work. just saying whats he got for $4K that jerry dont have. his fathers name. i have szambotis also. i got my barry for $1200. i got a deal but the specs of the cue makes it a clunker. 59'' 20+ oz. hits like a battle axe

exactly the SON of a legend. without gus he is just another guy nobody you say prob not even making cues. jerry could inflate his waiting list to 5 yrs and ask 3 times for his cues and he'd get it. truth is most of these guys that charge a ton are offspring of great cue makers that made a name for them. you buy a joel h bc of burton spain and a tad bc of harvey martin. great cues but this helps alot

im not saying there cues arent great, but not 4000$ great. if you ask anyone who delt with jerry they are multiple multiple buyers. theres ur nobody for ya.

Jerry makes a nice cue for the money, but he is not in the same league as Barry.

like i said if it wasnt for gus barry wouldnt even be making cues. his prices are outrageous and ppl still buy them. thats all im saying. gus was one of the fathers of modern cue making. alot of ppl copy his style. jerry barry and many many more. how many original designs has barry came up with. most cues i see is his fathers idea. very hard to come up with new ideas bc everything has already been done.

Nice LQQking set of JR cues!

Heya Dave, nice set of Jerry's cues you have there!

Can you explain to me the difference between the pic with the ring/groove above the points and the next pic of the points :)

I don't know anything about Barry's cues....I can't afford buying one at the moment  but, I do often admire them :D

However, I can tell you that I have 3 of Jerry's cues and a 4th in the works -- EXCELLENT fellow to do business with by the way -- and JR makes a great playing cue IMHO ;)

Come on. You can't sit there and type with a strait face and tell us that the work even comes close to Barry's. Look at this cue for example. http://cgi.ebay.com/RAUENZAHN-CUSTO...ryZ21212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem If this cue is ten yrs old, then he would have been making cues for at least ten to firteen years prior to that. Gimme a break, every thing you posted here are Gus or Barry knock-offs [prolly because they are the only things that do sell]. But, its alright for your guy to do it but not Barry? Please help clarify, I am extremly confused.

i already clarified this. barry hasnt had very many original ideas his entire career. not gus or barry, gus. every one is copying someone everyday. im sure that jerry cue is a custom order. he doesnt have time to make cues for the hell of it. he doesnt have time to make 6 or 8 cues for valley forge show. you think all of barrys cue are great. im talking about the same cues that are up there. cant help what crap someone wants. i see a cue i like i send it to him and he makes it as good as they do. 5 years faster and 1-4 the price.

ps i have 10 ppl wanting to buy this "nobody" cue right now. ur the nobody

Dave,

Your cues by Jerry -R- are awesome looking. I love the joint caps, nice touch! Once I found Jerry -R- and how he builds cues I became a believer. And most of you don't know this but Jerry has been building cues for 30+ years. I'm sure there aren't very many cue makers around with his knowledge and experiences. I had a few of Jerry's cues and all of them have great fit and finish, and they play fantastic. If you guys think there is a better value out there then step up to the plate and spend your money, but I'll get more cue for less money from Jerry Rauenzahn. I would bet you any amount you are willing to spend that Jerry would build you a cue to your specs and you would LOVE the way it looks, hits, and works a cue. Take him up on my offer, check him out. You want custom inlays, talk to Jerry, he is easy to do business with. He's a man of his word. How many cue builders can you say that about?? Some day Jerry's cues will bring much more money than they do today because they will last with his construction techniques.

Hope you try out one of his cues; honestly they are one of the best buys on the market today.

This is my opinion of Jerry's Philosophy:

The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he's always doing both.

Dave, keep stroken them balls!!!

John
