With some recent transaction snafu's, I have to ask.. at what point is a negative feedback acceptable?

Guy commits with promise of a sent payment, you hold the cue. Says your getting the check, you email him a few times, no response. Negative yes/no?

Guy wants to renegotiate after receipt of item, refuses to send it back, wants discount, you say send item, he says no. He wants a different deal. Negative yes/no?

JV(--just curious..

its kind of like blackmail........i think both instances deserve negative feedback, of course they are gonna slam you with negative feedback in return.

1. No....we've all been there, sometimes multiple times in a week

2. Yes....simple, not a way anyone wants to do business

yup , both negative

Both of those scenarios require a big frowny negative. More people need to
quit worrying about the neg retaliation, and post it like it is. A transaction is either smooth, or BS. If BS, bring out the frowny button. Let others know of this crap. My nickels worth!

agreed. not every deal runs smoothly...lol but 2 he was deff trying a scam. unless item wasnt as described. i dont think this was the case though

If he doesn't want the cue he should send it back. The deal was already made when the cue was sent. If everything was shown and described with no deceit than the buyer should get negative feedback.

The buyer sounds like a real winner. If he is a AZer let us know so we can all avoid the jerk.

Situation 1..no

situation 2..depends on if they start trashing me for not changing the deal. Which is where I point out I'd gladly refund the cost of the cue as soon as it hits my door step.

Agreed. I also think we all need to do a better job of posting positive feedback, when a deal goes smooth, that is. I hate to see a back and forth negitive thead, however, I usually form an opinion of both people involved. That opinion is usually based on first hand dealings, prior post and/or positve feedback or the lack thereof.

imo it is rarely acceptible to negotiate the payment after a cue is shipped and a deal is complete. either there is deception or not. the cue is as describled or not. trying to re negotiate is shady at best

I just cannot even wrap my brain around this type of behavior!

I sell cues so infrequently, that I have never run into this type of problem. I do offer those who wish to purchase, a 'trial period' of a few days. Either they like the cue at the price paid, or they do not, (has never happened). I feel that I have priced out my past cues fairly, and have been very fortunate to receive very nice replies that the cues are 'better then described'.

I have very little patience for those who would want to 'dicker' once the cue was received. Either you like it at the price paid, or you don't...send the bloody thing back! As far as I am concerned, the deal is done once both parties agree upon a set price.

Here comes the 'car analogy' again.....you don't go into a car deal, agreeing to a negotiated price, then a few days later, go back to the seller and try to re-negotiate the price!! Why would you do that with a cue....or anything else, for that matter?!

I guess I would have to say that a negative would be appropriate in both cases...trying to re-negotiate is a deal-breaker in my book!

Now, if the cue was mis-represented...it's a whole different ball game, and all bets are off. Sadly, you're always gonna run into someone who will try their level best to just get over on you....and to be quite honest, if I did run into such an individual, I'd rather the deal be called off, because they're never gonna be happy, and life is just too short, IMHO.

Lisa -------------> Who actually kinda 'screens' prospective buyers to see if they're worthy of owning what I might have to sell.........would NEVER make it as a dealer of cues, or anything else for that matter....lol.:)

Negative feedback is acceptible in BOTH cases if you ask me.

#1 - No - I would hold the cue for a predetermined amount of time acceptable to both parties, and state that if by that date the sale doesn't happen, the cue is back on the market. You determine the timeframe you can live with. There are many guys who "need" the cue but in actuality never really intend to come through. If they are a repeat customer that has come through in the past, leave it alone and hope for a future sale.

#2 - Yes and yes. If the cue is not what is expected, a phone call should result in a simple fix, you either agree to adjust the price to what they want or they send the cue back to you. Nothing hard about that.

I'dlike to know. If they bought it online and you can prove delivery, is this a felony?

First question, some people can't get on the net every day....patience for a week, then it's negative.

Second, renegotiation is crap, hate people like that.....negative...

I recently had one of the "good" guys on the board do a similar thing. We're on the phone Wednesday afternoon California time, agreed on a price. He wanted the cue ASAP so he agreed to overnight the money to me on Thursday and email me the tracking number and I'll ship the cue on Friday USPS Express service so he can get it on Saturday. I promised to hold on to the money without depositing until he was satisfied with the cue; otherwise, send the cue back and I'll send the money order back.

I pack the cue on Thursday, juggle the schedule to make time to go to the post office on Friday and .... yup, nothing. When I emailed him later, he said his mother was sick and he'll get back to me when things settle ... yup, nothing. And he's back on the board, buying and selling cues and getting great feedbacks from others.

For me, it's more disappointing than anything else since prior to this I treated him with utmost respect on the board, PMs and emails and even posted some photos for his for sale threads.

Negative thread? Not worth it .... dealing with him in future ... not sure.
