New Ginacue: playing cue

Picked up a very nice Ginacue that is a very nice player. I wasn't sure whether to post under the wanted/for sale or not. The cue will definitely will be for sale in the near future. I am currently am playing with the cue.(but using an Universal Smart Shaft to keep the shafts near perfect)

The cue is five points of rosewood into nice birdseye. Veneer colors are maple, salmon, red and black. Makes for a nice contrast. Stainless 5/16x18 piloted joint. Black smooth leather (very retro look). Very nice solid rosewood butt sleeve. (sorry the pictures didn't pick up the beautiful grain and color) Then a big chunk of ivory for the butt cap. Cue weighs 19.2 oz.
Both shafts are a nice 13mm with ivory ferrules. (very, very light play)

I would rate the cue at 98%. I will start taking pm's for future reference. No trades. Eventually it will be a cash only deal. Start throwing a couple of bucks back if you think you might be interested. I have already had several people show future interest.

Thanks for looking,
Jimmy

I have a similar cue

I have the same model, but with different color veneers and mine is made of ebony.

It is best playing cue I own. I have SW, Omega/dpk, Tad, Pfd, RH, you name it.

The buttcap is NOT ivory but an ivory substitute. I love mine and the only thing I would change is the joint, as I prefer Ivory. Mine came with linen wrap, which I also prefer but I think the leather would be upgrade making yours a little more valuble to most.

It came with ivory ferrelles and moori tips from the "factory" and plays awesome.

My recommendation is to hang on to the cue, or regret it.

Nice cue!

Very nice looking cue.
Nice looking player.
But if this one is for sale then I may have to wait for the one you detailed to me...being that everything is for sale. :D

Hey Myron,

This cue is an absolute perfect fit for the 8-Ball Rat in terms of his taste.

From my perspective this cue serves as the perfect temporary player and then eventually another dent in the final cost of the Schick masterpiece that is in production.

Give me a call if you find some time over the weekend.

Take care,
Jimmy

Is the buttcap ivory or not? How about the two cues in your avatar. Ivory or faux Ivory? Inquiring minds.

I plan on calling Ernie on Monday with the serial number of the cue and find out for sure. I was told it was.

A lot of people out there are much better judges than I am. It amazes me that some people can look at a picture and tell. I sure can't. If one of the experts can look at the picture and tell, give me some of your expertise. Inquiring minds want to know.

Believe me before I sell the cue I will know for sure. I have sold in the neighborhood of 150 high end cues and never gave anyone false information. I just pass on what I have been told from the cuemaker or seller.

As far as the two cues on my avatar, the Josswest cue was ordered as such and I don't know about the high end Gina. I would think a cue of this caliber would have an ivory cap. But the truth is, I don't care if it does or doesn't. It is my cue and will remain that way.

One thing I do know, when I decide to sell the cue above, it will sell in about 15 minutes. Ivory or not.

Jim

jim, that is a nice gina you have and i don't believe the butt cap material will have any bearing on selling it. but if it had an ivory joint you wouldn't have to worry about selling it, we'd have made a deal already. but this is a perfect cue for 8-ball rat. come on mark, what do you say?

Mark was a bit busy watching over the civilians who were touring Andrews Air Force Base. So we will have to see if this cue sparks any interest with him.

Jimmy - will try to give you a call tomorrow.

I talked to him this afternoon. It was good to hear from him. Sounds like he had a busy day. He is very interested. He even said the cue is a perfect fit. He is such a good friend that if he really wants the cue that I hope he is the one that ends up with it. It will be up to him. As far as I am concerned, he has first chance. If not, I already have a half dozen people hot on it. Ivory butt cap or not. :D

Take care,
Jim

its all a matter of personal taste, on playing cues i perfer a delron(SP?) butt capp over ivory, infact thinking of it i like deloron better period, the color difference makes the Ivory inlays look better in fancy cues.

on a different note when you do sell that Ginacue it will sell easily no matter what the butt capp is made of-its a great cue-Ernie is a legend-I have 2 Ginacues now, and one plain 4 pointer in the pipe line. I even take the fancy ones out to play with sometimes and they all play great.

Hiya Jimmy (and Myron, and Guy)....

All is well, folks. The Air Show went off pretty well. Only a couple minor incidents....nothing major. Everybody had a great time, and most importantly, everybody was safe for yesterday's show. Good times, all around (minus the leg aches, headache, sore back, and sunburn :) :) )

Now - on to the cue..........

IT WILL BE MINE!!!! :) :)

Jimmy, I very much appreciate getting first crack at this cue, sir....and I'm going to take you up on it. I want the cue, and will call you this week to iron out the details for it. It does fit me to a "T"...19.2 ounces, stainless joint, ivory ferrules, leather wrap.......might as well have been made for me, personally, by Ernie!!!!!!

Gorgeous cue, sir...and looking forward to getting it home!! ;) :)

Talk to ya'll soon.

(Myron, I'll call you either Monday or Tuesday, sir!!!!)

Ivory or not.

To all,

I hope everyone understands what I was saying about the buttcap. Mine too looks ALOT like ivory but I was told it wasnt but an ivory replacement.

I was kinda glad is was wasnt ivory as I was concerned, rightly or wrongly, that it might be too brittle and get split if it was indeed ivory.

Not trying to be a wet blanket, or just a plain old ass. I just wanted to share what I was told and understood. I pick up alot of knowledge here and wanted to help if I could. Tate is awesome resource on Palmers and because I have the exact (or at least think I have) same model I wanted to help.

Felt bad after I posted, and I shouldnt as I did not intend to harm or hurt in any way just sharing what I have been told.

I feel better.

LOL

Ken,

Seeing as how this cue is now (okay...NEARLY) mine now, I appreciate the info you provided.

I've owned a few cues with ivory...and a few with faux ivory. Sometimes, it's extremely difficult to tell....and other times, it's pretty easy (looking at "overly" grained caps and such).

No wet blanket opinions here, sir....every ounce of info is helpful, and the beauty of the boards is that everybody knows at least one thing that most of us don't. Gotta love the big AZB melting pot!! :)

Thanks much,

Mark

Your First Gina!
Awesome.
I will have to work toward one of the Gina's but I think I may go over the top with mine.
It would look very similar to the Gina that Chady has on his site - love to look at that cue.

So with the Gina cue for you shall I be getting my second BB? :D
