In the previous thread (9 Ball Run Out Exercise Pt1) , I mentioned "It has been a long day of shooting and you are trying to maintain focus." For some reason you realize there are six balls on the table instead of four all the sudden. Not too bad, you also just feel the CB is still in your hand:

Exercise

1, Where would you place the CB to shoot the 4
2, Where are the ideal position zone for the 5 from this layout.
3, How would you move the CB into the zone.

Again, you are playing on a brand new 9 ft Diamond table with 4 1/2" pockets and fast Simonis 860 cloth. The balls are new Aramith Balls. You have turned off your cell phone and the only thing on your mind now is pool.

the 7 and 8 are really big balls in this one. I would rule out drawing downtable onto the short side of the 5 simply beaucse to be that is low percentage and you could miss the shape to get on the 6 from there.

placing the cb to come up off the long rail cross to the other long rail past the side makes the 6 a big ball.


i would probably place the cb right below the 4, follow up to come up between to 6 and 9 down my the second diamond. If I come up short or too far I can still get on the six.
 
Getting shape on the 5 shouldn't be too hard. You have a relatively large position zone. It's all elementary after that really.

I would probably place the cueball between the 4 and 5, but closer to the 4 and draw straight back into position for me to cut the 5 in and go two rails with the cue ball toward the 6 ball. Not sure if the shot is avaliable as described but it looks like it is. This way I am in position the entire way, I am not trying to get into the position window like other shots avaliable.

After you place the balls, arrows etc where you want them, click on the red lightning bolt which when you put your cursor over the top shows that it is EXPORT DATA <E>
Then go to your reply message area and any where you want to place the image simply press CONTROL V or CTRL V on your keyboard. That is the command for PASTE.

Then you have to highlight what you have PASTED: You highlight text by holding down your mouse key and dragging the cursor from the very beginning to the very end of the EXPORTED DATA info which looks kind of like a web address with lots of numbers and symbols.

After it is highlighted you click on the wei icon above the message area. It is white lettersin a blue box. This puts bracketed

It looks like you have enough room to get to this part of the bottom rail for the three cushion route. Zero chance of hooking yourself.

Not bad Short Bus but with a touch more of side English and a slightly firmer stroke, you can get perfect shape so that you avoid yourself a hard cut on the 5. :D

Yah.... I don't play as bad as Smorg likes to make out.

Still...That won't keep me from asking everyone for the 5 out at DCC.. :D

The end of my path isn't necessarily where the cue ball will end up, it's more of a indication of direction... I'd hit it with the speed to try to come off the rail 4 or 5 inches, and probably try to get a smidge deeper towards the corner on the third rail.

I noticed ur signature line has been modified and while I thought I knew what yin and yang was I decided to google what yang meant. Not bad.

Ask and if you open up enough noses between now and then you might get what you ask for...... (NO, not from me as I don't respond well to woofing or begging.) :D :D

If you and Walt Frazier ever teamed up the two of you could empty out most pool halls in a single night. Ya'll might have to bring some munitions with you though to make the getaway. :D

now this is the type of shot i like to practice on. its very tough to get position on the 5-Ball. the 7 and 8 are very difficult to get position between them. the long straight draw shot is a possibility, but also very difficult.

i like Russ's diagram here, i'd say it carries the least potential for disaster. with decent speed you can get a shot, albeit a tough one, on the 5-Ball.

Note: On this three rail route, if you put a slight bit more follow on the cue ball, you will move the third rail contact point closer to the corner pocket.

But, you also take a greater risk of getting dead straight in on the 5..

I'm with Russ. That's the first shot that came to my mind watching the diagram.

If it's the same thing for him... I doubt he is a C player :p

At the risk of creating more action than I can handle. I would probably do this. I didn't look at any other choices until after I posted. I'm not sure what I would do on the 6 ball. It would depend largely on how well I got on the 5 ball.

Excuse me folks, if this post is repetitive, but I have chosen not to look at any other posts before replying. If Craig Fales has posted here, he and I will probably agree on this one. :) For my money here I've got to line up about straight on the four ball and draw it back for position on the five, trying to get about a diamond and a half up from the side pocket and at least two inches off the rail.

Going one rail across the table to get about straight on the five leads to other problems in getting on the six, and I don't like where that nine is sitting in terms of going two rails around to the short side of the five. JMHO.
