My new John Davis cue......

Just got it this past week.

Full splice ebony points into maple, with maple, blue, red, and black.

VERY nice hitting cue...and has an "old school" look and feel to it. I like the thicker black rings quite a bit.....and he threw one in the buttsleeve section, just for a small added touch of balance.

Great guy to deal with...and I'm VERY happy with it.

This is the first John Davis "complete cue" I've seen. I'm sincere when I say that this cue proves you don't have to have inlays to have a gorgeous cue. The combination of vibrant and subtle veneer colors, symmetry, and precise execution created a look that could not be more stunning while remaining simple.

Really nice pics too by the way. Congrats.

Chris

Ps. Was he able to get the weight you wanted?

Hi, Chris.

I'm with ya, sir.....the cue came out gorgeous, and not a single inlay in it. None are needed to make this cue beautiful, in my opinion.

He came EXTREMELY close to my desired weight....only 1/10th of an ounce difference....which is just fine by me. I'll never notice it...and didn't, while playing around with it today. Very solid hit. Stiff, but full of good feel and feedback. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the cue he put together for me.

It's signed " J. Davis" under the bumper. This is the first "full on" Davis cue I've seen, too. Everything from blank to finish and tips...and all steps in between.

mark, that is a great cue. john davis is a great individual and his work is getting better with each cue. congrats.

Very nice!

Tough to beat old school! I wounder how old those rings are and and how many years they have been sitting around waiting for that cue to be made. That cue reminds me of the old Balabushka cues.
Sweet looking cue Rat!
Nick :)

Very, very nice Mark! That cue came out great! Finish looks superb and veneer color choices are excellent, also looks like the points line up perfectly. Glad to hear you like the hit and feel, too. What more can you ask for? Can't wait for mine! :p

Muchos gracias, ya'll.

Ray - I think you're gonna be pleased with yours, sir.

On my cue, the finish is great. Those issues John may have had in the "beginning" are apparently LONG gone....he did a great job on mine. The points are VERY even. At most, 1/32 difference....tops. To the naked eye, they're all dead nuts even all the way around.

I'm really pleased with the cue...and it does have an old Gus/George look to it.

It's a HUGE plus that John is such a great guy to work with, too. He and his wife, Barbara, are wonderful people. It made the experience all the better to have them be so great to me.

Congratulations on the great cue! This is by far the nicest cue of John’s that I’ve seen so far. I really like the steel joint, the rings on the shaft, and the traditional but and bumper. (I guess I just like the whole cue)

This is a great demonstration of where his cues are going, won’t be long and his waiting list will be a mile long.

Enjoy!

Glad to see it finally arrived and it appears to be a sweet looking cue.
Now you just have to get in stroke with this bad boy and run a few racks.

Great looking cue sir!

I love the thick rings, very cool in my opinion. I am a sucker for the understated elegance look. Nice catch.

John can be reached at 773-545-2190 and it's usually best to try him in the evenings. Cuemaking is still a part time business for him but he plans to make a full time pursuit when he retires in the near future.

Man...

I have GOT to get me a blank from him! Damn nice cue man! Hey, did it come with two shafts or just one? Also, does he do a flat-faced joint?
