Video of Gus Szamboti

Very cool, thanks for posting!! The interviewer pronounces his name the way I always thought it was pronounced but not too long ago I was told that it is pronounced Szam[boat]i. Which one is the correct pronunciation?!

Zack

P.S. If anyone knows where I can get a similar finished cue from Gus for $950 please let me know and I'll find the money! :D :D :D

Anyone have any idea what year that may have been filmed?

With the starting cue price of 325.00 I would have to think around 1980-1982 give or take a few...

Video of Cue Making

I wish I knew how to play this video... Sooner or later I will figure it out.

Gus's cue prices were very low even at the time. In 1987/88, he quoted me a price of 1200 for a very fancy (ivory) 6 point cue.

Best Regards,
Hal

Three man days to make that cue.
(without cnc)

Thanks for the link ... it is great to hear the pionieering cuemakers talk about their passion.

to this day nobody except Barry can make a cue that plays like a Gus, there are some that are close but still I havent played with a cue like a Szam. It wasnt about the $$$ for Gus or Barry its about doing it right and not letting anything distract them. A CNC machine cant do waht a man with passion can achieve, there will be cues made someday down the road that might equal them, I know one cue maker who dosent care about $$ and he has the best chance of getting there. I'll say his name another time this thread is about Gus.
