For those of you who may have known Kyle Tafoya, he passed away this week He has been away from the pool scene for a long time but he was a really good player when he was a teen and in his twenties. He was arguably the best banker to ever come out of the state of New Mexico. Kyle had really big and kind heart; he always treated my family kind and whenever he was around we liked to talk about pool, life, and how much he loved his family. He would always gave me titles to books that he thought were enjoyable reads. I am going to miss him. Even though he did not play much the game still meant a lot to Kyle and he still had a great love for it. He could still bank the balls unbelievably even though he did not play much. He was so proud of his nephews, Nick Tafoya and Mark Tafoya. Some here on azbilliards my know them; two really good teenage players. He always treated my boys like they were his nephews too, Kyle will be missed.

So sorry for your loss, and may he rest in peace!

BTW, I found the paper we spoke about, but I have to find a LARGE photocopy machine, so that I can capture the FULL pages. I'm still working on it and haven't forgotten you!:)

Kyle played quite a bit at California Billiards in San Jose when he was in the Army stationed at Fort Ord. He was always in action and was quite a bank pool player and played good one pocket. Sorry to hear of his passing. JOHN HENDERSON

This news really saddens me. Kyle was a great guy to play with and we had a Bank Pool session or two many moons ago. He was the kind of guy who would congratulate you on a good shot or run-out. Sharking was not in his vocabulary or his make-up. And if he lost, he acted no different than if he won. Kyle was a friend to every pool player he ever met.

He was always a welcome additon to any tournament and he was a regular on the tourney scene out West in the 80's and early 90's. Kyle would always manage to knock off one or two good players. He stayed under the radar and his opponents would sometimes ask me how good he plays. Of course, I gave them my stock answer. "He never misses a ball".

Kyle Tafoya was one of the really GOOD guys. We will miss him. I can see his smile now. He was happiest when at the table. He just loved to play.

RIP Mr. Tafoya. Nick will carry on. My sincere condolences to friends and family.

This is definitely some very, very sad news. My fondest memories of Kyle will always be the McDermott Tour stops back in the early 90's. Kyle would always show up broke, sleep in a booth at the closest Denny's, gamble nonstop - have a blast - and then we would pass the hat around to get him a ticket for a Greyhound back to Albuquerque... lol (j/k... sometimes we'd make him walk...lol). Kyle also lucked out in Santa Rosa when he drew Allison Fisher as his doubles partner - and they actually made it to the TV rounds. Kyle was really a good guy. He was quite a character, he had a big heart, and he will defintely be missed.

We had the pleasure of the Tafoya family attending a few of our tour events. If he was anything like the rest of his family, he was one of the good guys.

My condolences of the loss to his family and the pool world.

To the Tafoya family

My heart goes out to this family. I met them in Denver last year when Nick was qualifying for the national juniors. They were incredibly nice people, and great supporters of the game.

My heartfelt condolences
Ted
