I guess Lil Jon will go home now and put his money in the bank and save it for a rainy day.

Yes, and the funny part is, he only got in at the last minute after begging for backers, telling everyone how well he does in ring games! He was right.

Currently he's 2 up against Tony Chohan, getting 10-7 one-hole. I don't know the stakes. There's a mini action report on 1P.org.

Got a phone call from a friend Thursday, Doc. He was playing poker in Biloxi. Told me Danny Basavich was playing at his table. Any sign of Danny in Mobile?

Surprised to see lil John win with that field of players. Would he play any of those other guys even 9-ball?

Probably not, DP but that is how you get players for a ring game. The best player doesn't have to even win a game. The first of the big money ring games in Starkville, MS had 7 players at $3K per man. Danny Basavich was the best player in the game yet never won a game and was the first player out. NOLA's own Jamie Farrell was the ultimate winner. Lil Jon finished 4th in that game.

love to see lj book a winner

I have to say I have a lot of respect for John's gamble and heart. Anytime he books a winner I feel like it was deserved. Keep em in the box John and don't give em any air.

I definitely agree with you on that Hemi. It's always good to see John take down a score. From the way he has represented himself on the board in the past and he always seems to be in action. That's a breath of fresh air compared to some other former posters that can go without being named.

Basavich hasn't been there. Of course the action will go 24/7 until Friday, then they'll move to Metairie (N.O.). Danny may be planning on playing in the upcoming Miss. Gulf Coast Poker Championship at the Beau Rivage.

Neither JJ or Wiseman have dipped into pool action at Mobile yet either. I'm heading over there today for a coupla hours. Will note the toy table leader board too...;)

Ain't it the truth. The ring games can be very trying for players, sometimes having to wait three, four, and five rounds before ever firing a shot. :o

I am pleased to learn of LilJon's win! Congratulations. I hope this gives him a boost in spirits, as I know he's been not very happy in recent times with the current state of pool. Of course, pool always seems to be alive and well in Beautiful Dixie, thanks to players like Liljon! :)

I was there for the first one, Smorg. In fact I put, Buster, in it and there were many shots passed back to the previous shooter. Not a word was said about any funny business. You gotta love Danny Basavich. After not winning a single game he asked the Professor "When are we going to do it again"? Danny did win the tournament that weekend which offset the ring game loss.
