To the Filipinos on board!

I am going to Manila to watch the World Championship, but I was curious if you think the action will still be at One Side?

I know One Side is in Metro Manila and the hotels/venue is in Queson City, and that it can be a long ride between these 2... And the only "big" poolhall in Queson City that I know of is Side Pocket, and I doubt that any of the foreigners will play there :D

I am planning on renting an apartment near One Side and the Robinson Mall, but if you think all the action will be somewhere else I might reconsider, and I will appreciate all the help I can get...

There's actually a pool hall within Araneta Center being run by Puyat Sports. This has been a long time den for decades, even before One Side, for aspiring pro-players and the Philippine Team. So, if you want to see some action near where the ACTION really is, I'm sure you'll find a lot here in PUYAT SPORTS Farmers Plaza.

Puyat Sports in Farmers Plaza is a walking distance from Araneta Coliseum, you just have to cross the street or take the connecting bridge to get to the other building. It's also connected to the metro light rail stations (MRT3) & so it's very accessible.

Since Araneta Center is in Cubao, the very heart of the metro's mass transit system, it's easy to go to Manila from here. You can take either of the 2 train stations MRT3 or LRT2 that have both connecting docks to LRT-1 that can take you to Malate, Manila where One Side is. If you're adventurous, you can ride the JEEPNEYS or buses going to Manila. Taxi will not be a problem however it will take you at least an hour to get to the Manila area if the traffic condition is good, which is not always the case.

If you're considering a hotel near Araneta Coliseum & has access to the MRT3, I'd recommend either Holiday Inn or Crowne Plaza which are both beside Robinsons Mall (MRT3 Ortigas station) or EDSA Shangri-la hotel (MRT3 Shaw Blvd station) which are all in the Ortigas area. You can even take a bus or jeepney ride to Araneta Center from these. There's a pool hall within Robinsons Mall also under Puyat Sports, PAENG'S SKYBOWL, which has often been a venue for big tournaments like San Miguel Asian 9 Ball Tour & Philippine 9 Ball Open. There's also Hotel Intercontinental in Makati which is beside the MRT3 Ayala Station, and halfway from Araneta Center, Cubao & Malate, Manila.

If you want friendly games where people won't shark on for your money, there's SIDE SPIN/FERRULE in Libis, a few kilometers from Cubao & Ortigas area. You may want to check out this forum if you want to meet friendly players who can take you around when you get here in the Philippines http://www.easypooltutor.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=3. Last year, we entertained Thorsten Hohmann in Side Spin/Ferrule

Hope this helps;)

Roy, I think you'll hear it when there is action from people around. :D I doubt that it will be all on One-Side this time around as it's very far away from Araneta Center.

I'll be traveling with a member here (troyroy78) from the same locale and will be staying at Fernandina88 Suites. Hope to see you around, have a drink or 2 and shoot some balls.

"excuse me miss, could I get some extra chalk and a corona? Oh, and it feels a little safe in here, could we get some extra gang activity over by table 7? Thanks."
