Texas Billiards, Monday nights

akaTrigger

Hi!
Silver Member
I've been going to this tournament on Monday nights and it's pretty darn cool! Once you get 6 weeks in, you are qualified to enter their end of season tournament where LOTS of money is added and a large calcutta. They have two seasons a year and the next season tournament is Nov 6th, so there's still time to get in your 6 weeks in. The other way to qualify for the end of season tournament is to win the Monday night tournament. I got close a month ago - got 2nd. :(

Texas Billiards
6531 Wautauga Road, #110
Wautauga, TX 76148
(817) 498-2629

Sign-up between: 7:00 and 8:00 pm. Calcutta starts shortly after that (separate men's and ladies calcutta)

See if you are eligible by calling Dennis at (817) 498-2629.
Cost: $10 for men, ladies play free.
Format: 8-ball, BCA rules apply, race to 2 on the winners side, race to 1 on losers side.

Awesome $3 burger & fries special on Monday nights. Food is great! There is also a raffle each Monday. In addition, they do a drawing for $50 each Monday at the end of the tournament. If the person already left, that money carries over for the next Monday. :)

I wont be there tonight, but hopefully next Monday I can make it after the FE event in San Antonio.

Someone told me about this tournament a while back... sounded a little odd...

If you win, you just entered into the final tournament??? I think someone mentioned something about winning a McDermott cue or something like that???

Yes, that's right. If you win the Monday night tournament, then you are eligible for the final tournament (and no longer can play in the Monday night tournament until the next season). If you don't win it, then you have to play at least 6 weeks to be eligible for the final tournament. I hear the room owner may add up to $4,000 to the end of season tournament.

Evidently, winning the cue was something they did last time and instead are using that money to add into the final tournament.

I know about this tournament!

there are only 5 weeks left to Qualify for the Tournament of Champions
once you win 1 you can not play again untiil the finals 11/04/07

ladies play for free and everyone that plays is eligable for the $50.00 free money drawing at the end of the tournament every week.(YOU JUST HAVE TO STAY FOR THE FINISH)

FYI: last two weeks the winner had already left so this week the free money pot is $150.00

really good food and good people

no master level players allowed (you know who you are)
there is almost always a five dollar table working

to qualify or not to qualify?

the tournament sponsor has made it clear he will not allow any person to play the final tournament if they are not qualified.

ladies need to win 1 or play 4 weeks

men need to win 1 or play 6 weeks

Watauga rd is Western Center Blvd.

Watauga is a suburb of Fort Worth, Tx on the north east side next to North Richland Hills and Keller. Watauga rd is the same as Western Center Blvd. Texas Billiards is 1/2 block west of Rufe Snow and Western Center Blvd on the right.

Only 4 More Weeks Left

We have only four more weeks left to qualify for the Tournament of Champions Nov. 4th
men must play 6 weeks or win one (winning is the only option remaining)
ladies must play 3 weeks or win one

Got "last lady" last night. Had to beat my teammate Ryan and my husband Tony to get it, but I didn't mind. :)

Dennis, tell Jack THANKS for adding that extra $200 to the women's side! That was so awesome of him.

Melinda <-- proud

Nice try. Just kidding - I don't know. I know Master men can't play, but not sure about Master women. Dennis should be reading this today and should be able to answer for us. It was a VERY nice payout again for a weekly tournament. :) Even first place in the men's was $150. First place in the women's was $200 and they paid out at least 3 spots in the women's.

Was last night the "Final" tournament or are you just talking about Calcutta payout? I had seriously considered going down there yesterday, but it had skipped my mind by the time I got out of work when I had already made some other plans. Does "Last Lady" get you into the "Final" tournament as well?

Nope, this was just their weekly tournament. The "final" tournament is Nov 4th - still several weeks to qualify for it (ladies need to play 3 weeks or a win to qualify, men need 6 weeks or a win, so since six weeks are not left, ya'll need to win it).

I heard this "final" event Nov 4th (based on past history) has paid out over 2K and that does NOT include the calcutta monies. They have it twice a year.

Last night's money was all calcutta money. Last lady doesn't get me in the "final" tournament. But that's okay... I just got my three weeks in. :)

You should go next Monday!

Maybe I can play with the Men's side if the women's is off limits. :)

The women and men play in the same tournament... so you are saying to not be involved in "last lady"? hmmm... that's an idea!

Well if Firecracker is going I might try for an easier tournament on Mondays! :p

Actually, I've had a few people ask me about this tournament, but I've never been, so I could never tell them anything! So Masters Men's Players are not allowed? Any other restrictions on entries?
