In 8 ball! :D But just one question: If on the break, you pocket a spot, then can you decide to go for stripes? Becaus ehtat's what I did. I also playing 9 ball ghost for the first time today, and beat the ghost twice. I worked on my break for about an hour today, and it really helped.

In most rules, what you did is great.

Congrats on the runouts. It's really important to track your outs and make sure you are making the ones you should. Then you can improve your skills and safety game, break, etc. But you really need to maintain that mental edge that when you see an out within your grasp, you deliver.

Congrats Bud!

I remember my first break n run in 8 ball, and I remember my first break n run in 9 ball.

Now if I could get a break n run in 10 ball, and in 14.1.....................lol

Congratulations. You should be proud of yourself, all too often guys on this forum talk like a break and run out is no big deal, but its a lot easier to talk about it than to do it.

Very, very true.

Personally, I can break and run just about any time......I just wish somebody would tell my cue, my stroke, and my head!!! :) :)

I've only done it a handful of times over the last couple years....but when it happens, I revel in it for DAYS!! Kinda makes the game all worthwhile.

Congrats on the runouts, sir.

Mark

I got lucky and ran a 2-pack in ten ball one night. We were playing kelly/pea pool. Each game earned me $20. That was one of the best nights for my pool game.

Great job

May it be the first break and run of many more to come.

My first came in a tournament 22 years ago. I didn't know I had done it until a friend told me why the railbirds were clapping. Too focused to see the big picture I guess. But I have never forgotten that day. Best wishes to you.

Well done! I'm sure it won't be the last.

It always gives you a boost to do it, no matter how often it happens. Like Drawman said, a lot of the time I don't realise I've done it until it's over. Mind you, that's a good way to stop you choking on the game ball!:D

Started out our league match with a break and run tonight, then the power went out! :( All games were called off, disappointed!!!

I hardly ever play against an opponent so my break & runs are only in practice. I break & run 8-ball one or two racks out of ten and may one in thirty in nine ball.

I'm still playing strictly draw, follow and speed so I'm in big trouble when I get out of line and it takes a lucky role to get out.

Here's a question: What do you call it when your opponent breaks dry and you run out from there?

I call it "Thank you very much!":D Nah, just a runout I think.

Congratulations! I haven't done it yet. I will run a couple balls then start thinking "ok, don't screw this up, this could be your first perfect... awe crap!" I've decided when I achieve my first run I will begin my betting career.

Yeah, that happened a lot to me over the past few weeks too! I knew I was getting so close though. When I finally saw the spread that led to my first break and run, I knew I should get out, and as soon as I thought that, my arm just seemed to freeze up. I spent over a minute on nearly every shot lol! Hopefully you'll get yours soon too. :)

If you allow those thoughts to be in your head while trying to run out - I am not sure if you ever will. The sooner you get those thoughts out - the sooner you will run your first rack. Think positive not negative or scared. JMO

Crappoolguy - great job on the run out.
I remember my first time.......

I remember my first run out too. :D

I remember my first B&R. I used to count them on my fingers afterward and remembering the dates. I mostly play 9-ball and rarely 8-ball (I ran a 2-pack in 8 ball once) I still can do some break and run on a regular basis but my break sucks really hard...no control:mad:

My best day of pool, I was playing 10-ball and I had 5 runouts which combines B&R and dry breaks from my opponent in the same pool session.
But I'm inconsistent (but I am working on that) so I'm still rated as a B player in that ranking system (C,B,A,AA,AAA,Semi-Pro,Pro)

next thing you know dude, you will do it again and again

No break & runs for me tonight, just a dry break from my opponent in one game that left me a runout. I made it but I was a little lucky to get on the 8!
