Hi, Eydie. I don't think there is a pool person on the face of the earth who is not aware that the players are still owed monies.

But let's not forget that he's only one million shy of paying the players off.

I do not know how many millions have been paid out to date to players, but I would venture to guess, it is between 5- to $6 million or thereabouts, subject to check.

Yes, you are right in that players did incur expenses that were not needed due to the circumstances that unfolded.

Keith now owns about 10 high-class suits, vests, Italian leather shoes, and long-sleeved shirts which he hates, as well as a passport.

I stand in the minority on this forum and am giving the IPT the time of day.

I do not understand, though, why some who have not taken a loss or have not competed in the IPT are pushing hard for the IPT to not exist.

The players are still getting paid, and if the IPT can produce competitive events on a smaller platform next year, I am all for it, again, standing in the minority with my opinion.

I heard from a reputable source, whose name I won't give up, that the UPA does not have a bright future here in the United States, that they are taking the organization overseas.

May I respectfully ask you, Eydie, why the IPT's existence or nonexistence is important to you? I just would like to understand your opinion better because you are somebody that I have a great deal of respect for.

I think KT is a low class snake and my gut reaction is against anything he is involved with. BUT... when I read your above comment, it occured to me you are absolutely right, if the players who took the hit are happy with it, I guess it is none of my damn business.
I still think there is another shoe to drop in this latest episode, but I'll wait and see.
I'd love to see more comments from players involved or from persons (like you) whose opinion reliable reflects that of a player.

Eydie, thanks for the reply. I remember reading that when you posted it, I think it was, last year.

FWIW, a year has come and gone since then. Though I am sure some of the IPT competitors are upset about the turn of events, there are many who have expressed that if the IPT can return in an economically feasible platform, they would welcome the opportunity.

This forum, as you and I both know, does not have very many IPT competitors who post here, though there are maybe a dozen or so in my estimation. There could be more, and maybe they just lurk.

I do not know Deno Andrews very well, other than a few back-and-forths on the Internet. I met him in person for the first time at the IPT King of the Hill in Orlando, held in December 2005. I was surprised at how young he was, but I was impressed with his professional demeanor. He did treat me and mine very nice.

Since this whole brouhaha started, beginning with the Reno event, I have spoken to Deno Andrews several times. He called our home. We did not call him. His intention in calling us was to let us know that he was working very hard to get things back on track and get every single player paid. That was his ultimate goal.

I believe that the efforts of Deno, as well as Mike Sigel, have not been forthcoming and realized by many, as both of them have been trying to make things right behind the scenes.

One day, Mike Sigel is everybody's hero, and a year later, he is ridiculed. His heart was in the right place. Sure, he pocketed a nice chunk of change, but I believe in my heart of hearts, he wanted the IPT to succeed.

And let's not forget how the BCA Hall of Famers were each given $30,000 just for showing up at the first "official" tournament in Orlando. That is more money than probably most of them ever won as a first-place prize in their lifetimes. I saw some of them actually crying happy tears as they were accepting their checks. This was a good thing that the IPT and Kevin Trudeau made happen.

Things are not perfect, and there's a rough road ahead for sure, but Deno Andrews is trying to pave the way the best he can. He is contacting players, working dilligently to get them paid in full, and the Archer versus Strickland match is just one more effort to effect a new change for the better.

As such, I will continue to support the IPT, Kevin Trudeau, and Deno Andrews. Have mistakes been made? Yep. But they have not turned a deaf ear to professional pool.

Wishing you much success at the upcoming Windy City Open. I'm sure you're busy in the preparation stages right now.

Catscradle, you know what's a shame is all these people who are coming on this website voicing their opinions -- most of it bad and not too much good -- and whether you know it or not, there was a lot of good.

Things got screwed up with the monies, but I do believe that Kevin Trudeau is making every effort to get this matter straightened out.

Now let's look at the good. He put us in a domain that no pool player on earth has ever been in. The nicest facilities one could ever play in, more money spent on one event, and everything was to try to make it better for the players, like a golf or tennis environment.

The biggest tournament I ever won was $25,000 in 1985. There haven't been many tournaments with that kind of money for first place since then, and that was in 1985. Kevin Trudeau made it possible for us players to actually have a chance to make a decent living. It was all first class.

I was proud to be a pool player, for the first time in a very long time, when I walked into my first IPT tournament, and then to see my colleagues all dressed up, I knew they were just as excited as I was. People in the conference center were treating us pool players like we were celebrities. It was an experience that I will never forget. We all held our heads up high, again, some of us for the first time in a very long time.

So, if you want to know my opinion about the IPT and Kevin Trudeau, I am appreciative of the tournaments I did get to play in, and I would more than welcome the opportunity to play in some more IPT tournaments.

Very good post, and I can see why you feel this way. Certainly, you can see how we the fans, especially those that know several players affected by all the shadiness, can feel the way we do about KT and his lies and unfulfilled promises.

The problem is that KT is a sheister and he's out for himself....in EVERYTHING he does. Now if you could get say a group of sponsors like, Diamond, Simonis, Brunswick, Cuetec, etc. to promote these events (like Cadillac does for golf), then you would see a working network where everyone profited. JMO.

Good post keith, and I think this thread would have to imply that Johnny and Earl, should also not forget that the players are owed money, therefore they shouldn't play. Well as long as money is involved nobody is going to bite their nose off despite their face. So lets all be thankful for what was produced, not forget what wasn't, and keep an open mind for the future.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate that whenever a pro speaks on this forum he runs the risk of somebody jumping down his throat for no good reason.
I snipped out the comment above because maybe that is something we fans and observers forget about, we just see the money people were screwed on and miss that point. It is of huge value to be able to feel proud of your vocation and feel appreciated. It is something us regular folks have to deal with too.
