Ten Ball Ring Game -
01-07-2008, 02:33 AM
The after hours game went off as scheduled the first two nights. The first night featured Tyler Edey, John Morra (18 yrs. old), Michael Gillick from Germany, Nathan Rose, Kevin Hall for starters. Jamie Farrell, Jason Kirkwood and Johnny Archer also got in for a period of time. It was 50 a man and lasted until 5 AM.
We had a good crowd sweatin' it all night. Tyler was the big winner for about $1,750. It was shown on tape delay on the internet the next day. Go to dcctickets.com to see this show. It's FREE! Or accu-stats.com
The seond night saw David G., Kevin, Joe Wilkins, Tyler, John Morra and Johnny Archer mixing it up again. It lasted about three hours with John Morra the big winner, about 1K to the good. Johnny Archer probably broke even for the two nights. It's not so easy when you only shoot every third game, and you're hooked!

Thanks for your work and for the updates. Appreciate it while I'm getting ready to go to the office

Jay, how good or Morra and Tyler? Are they 'world' class yet? Just curious on how you would rank them.

Tyler IS world class. He can play great, but has his off days too.
Young John Morra is very, very impressive. Probably the best 18 year old in North America. I can't imagine any youngster this side of Justin Bergman that has a chance with him. Certainly none who are younger. John plays great, has good composure and is fearless. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with him.
He is further along than Shane was at the same age. All that being said, I saw several kids that age and younger who played this speed in the Philipines. One who is 15 and a couple of 17 year olds. John told me that he got pasted by the 15 year old when he was over there. I forget all their names but I saw two of the filipino kids in action two months ago, and I said then that they were already world class pool players.
But John is the real deal. I see a great future ahead for him. He is a likely challenger for Shane in the coming years. And a good young man to boot. I like his style. Cool, calm and gracious even in defeat.

To be honest, I just wanted another opinion. I watched him win the event here in Ottawa. He was incredible. Very well behaved on and off the table. My 6 year old son was cheering him on. He looked and said that John was his favourite player. He has a long future ahead of him that is for sure.

Last night's field was the strongest yet, with Archer, Mike Davis, Stevie Moore, Tyler Edey, Shin Park, Jason Evans and John Morra (naturally) competing. It lasted nearly four hours, and Mike Davis emerged the big winner. Young John did okay too. He hung right in there against Archer, Moore, Davis and Edey for a long time. Never flinched once and made some impressive run-outs. I LIKE THIS KID! 18 and fearless!

Good luck to both Eric and John. They are both very impressive.
