Sorry,
It looks like 10 sets of 10 racks of the Q-Skill Challenge is going to take a while (so I deleted the other thread to make things a little more organized). Let's keep track of our scores, and try to complete 100 racks by Christmas. Post your scores on this thread as you do them, but just edit your initial post so everyone just has one post on this thread (to keep it from getting too long, and so everyone can easily scan it to see how everyone is doing). Perhaps try to post in the format of my post below this one.

Rules:
Follow the rules posted by Drivermaker in his "I'm sick of 9-ball" thread.

Play one rack for practice, then count the next ten, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS!!!!!

Try to complete 10 sessions of 10 racks by Christmas - DON'T BE EMBARRASSED (because if you don't post, we will all assume the worst about your skill level).

Post your score each session by editing your initial post on this thread.

Specify the type of equipment on which you are playing.

P.S. - I think D'maker should kick in a prize for the high score; perhaps 1 week of total immunity (he has to emphatically agree with everything you post for 1 week).

FYI and continued motivation, a few years ago when I first discovered the game and was talking to Hopkins about it, he told me something that didn't register on my pea brain at the time because of my lack of experience in the scoring and difficulty of the game itself. But he said that he had a number of the pro's play it and I THINK he said Parica, but it could have been someone else, scored 20 20's in a row. It wasn't until much later that I reflected back on the conversation and said to myself..."What...are you kidding me"?
These guys are GOOD!

Willee...why do you want to punish me after I presented such an interesting game? ;)

8' Brunswick with friendly pockets but a nasty roll, measurements to come ...

3 - 114 (20,20,9,8,3,3,7,4,20,20)
4 - 120 (12,20,6,20,6,18,2,20,10,6)

Now, that was honesty and I applaud you for it. Unfortunately, the 6 is the first game of your next session. I wonder how many other times that has occurred with anyone else and it was wiped out and a new game started.
Remember, big brother is watching you.

I ran the first rack after my "practice" rack, so I counted the run out. If I'm wrong let me know and I'll adjust my score.

Nope...you were right. There seems to be some really consistent scores throughout with most of the posters. It didn't always work out that way for me. Although I had a good number of runouts over the course of each session, I also had a few nasty racks thrown in that brought a session or two quite a bit lower than my normal score. It just happens due to lack of focus and planning. It also happened for me because of too much 9ball and just getting used to playing for a zone on the table instead of an exact spot for the CB to stay in line for multiple shots that are bunched together. You can't let up in your thinking.

DM,

I edited my post with my individual rack scores. I think folks should post these also.

My consistency runs in streaks, well I guess that's not consistent. I have my moments I guess.

I'd like to see individual rack scores also, just to see how I compare.

Yeah...I think you're right. After looking over your actual rack scores, that looks more like it and makes for an interesting comparison. I had some of those same shitty racks myself. One time a had a damn 3 thrown in with number of high scores that blew the session all to hell.

This sounds like fun, after I leave and find a good club I will post some scores. Shouldn't take long since I will have plenty of free time :-)

Balls off the break ?

In my first session I was counting balls made off the break as 1 each. This is not covered by the rules ...

It's in the rules. ALL balls made on the break count 1 point each, UNLESS you scratch or the CB flies off the table, then NO balls count. In addition to no balls countng, you would have either a 1 point or 2 point deduction based on a scratch or ball flying off.

Go to page 3 of the forum (currently as of 11-30) "I'm So Sick of 9 Ball" thread for posted rules.

Son of a gopher ! I read the rules over several times just so that I didn't make a fool of myself. Guess that didn't work ....

Thanks DM,

Dave
