New Mandrels for Saws

I'm very pleased to announce the introduction of my new mandrels for the carbide blades that I offer. The previous model was a good mandrel and conceivably would last a lifetime however, I believe these new mandrels to be a step-up. They are heat-treated tool grade steel, more precise and more compact. I machine these mandrels to fit the blade exactly. I am offering these at the same price as the previous model ($10.ea) and will therefore be discontinuing the previous model. A better tool at the same money. Better tooling for discriminating cuemakers.

If you have any questions or would like to inquire about purchase of the saws or mandrels, please PM. Thanx Much, KJ

OK, I can see that I should have added a little more info.

1). They are 1/4" shank. Will work on any machine with 1/4" collet. I'd try to keep the RPMs under 30,000.

2). Head diameter is .6". With this size blade (1.182"), you can get thru any size billet with a .290" wall thickness or less.

3). Cost of mandrel is $15. Saws are extra at $15.ea. also. Shipping $4.

4). Paypal accepted. I've had to raise the price of the mandrel but I'll now cover the Pp fee. Thanx Much, KJ

5). Paypal acct. kjcues@hotmail.com

Received my saw blade and mandrel today, and very impressed with the product. Thanks again.

Hi Guys,
It's good to hear that some of you have gotten your mandrels & saws already and that they meet with your approval. I struggled with a parting tool for a long time until I came up with these.

Some of the advantages to this set-up over a parting tool are :

1.) Thinner kerf (blade thickness). This allows you to use more of the billet and make less waste. Get just one or two more rings from your billets and you'll have paid for the tooling.

2.) Solid carbide blade. Solid carbide will not flex. Once you've 'set' your mandrel to run true in the router, your waste will be reduced to just the thickness of the blade. Parting tool : .060/.080". Carbide saw : .035/.036". It's easy to see that these saws will allow you to be more efficient & cost effective.

3.) The new mandrel is more compact. It weighs less, is stronger and more precise. This allows you to run at higher RPMs. I'm told that your only limiting factor for the set-up is balance. The mandrel MUST be set true in the collet of your router. Even with this knowledge I'm going to suggest that you limit your RPMs to 30k/35k. for safety's sake.

4.) These tools should last a lifetime. If & when you ever need to have the blade sharpened, any qualified tool grinder can do this for you. If his cost out-weighs the cost of a new blade, which is a possibility, just buy a new blade. I intend to have these in stock for a long time. Example: I've been running the same blade for 6 mos. and I cut a lot of rings. My blade is showing no signs of needing dressed anytime soon.

5.) This set-up allows you to cut thinner rings. Believe it or not, I'm cutting maple rings at .010/.015". Man, that's paper thin.

Thanx to all who have decided to give these a try. I'm sure that decision will be reflected in your future work. Now let's build some prettier cues. KJ

I have a similar blade setup, and they work awsome. Very fast and accurate. I have however found that cutting an aluminum ring out of a solid rod was not a good idea. I lost quite a few teeth. (off the blade, not my face:D ) The aluminum gummed it all up.

Saws

Saws and manderals are perfect. Makes ring cutting much easier with very little waste.

I must say KJ is more then fair in his price for these mandrels there are companies out there with products not even close to this quality that want
over $20.00 and the same price or more on the blade.Even though in the past KJ and i have not seen eye to eye on things he does make a high quality product and takes a lot of pride in making his cues and with matching shafts and ringwork he is second to no one so if if someone has the need to have shafts made and ringwork duplicated he is the man.

Any more left..?

KJ

I was just wondering if you had still some left and if you would ship them out of country (Norway)? The work I would do would at first be to part ferrule material which if I have done my inches to mm correct would work just fine?

I would be happy to use Paypal and send you my details on email :)
