> I took one of my cues to school today, just to see if I could use a radius gauge to match up to the Radial in my Dale Perry. I showed it to my instructor, and he spec'ed it out as .372 x what he said was close to but not quite 7.5 TPI. How close is he? I've read here it was either 7.5 or 8,maybe one of those is the import version. Whatever it is,he says he can make it. Tommy D.

7.5 as far as I know.
The imported knock-off onese have 8.5 i believe.

I had a 1000 made one time and the actual size is not a perfect size. I don't remember exactly what it was but it was 7.634 or some such fraction. The place still has the program for cutting them. Some one else had told me it was an odd number as he was having them made and selling them at the time but actually his wasn't quite right. He told me that it was a waste of my time to try and get them made as I would never figure out exactly what the thread was. These guys who I had make them had a very large digital comparator. They put the pin in which blew it's size up about 20 times and they put a mark on each major which showed the exact pitch and then a horizontal line was applied between the majors and was stretched so that it conformed perfectly with the threads contour so that they new what radius to use. They then had cutters made with this exact radius and a program drawn so that they could be made on a CNC Machine Center. It had an automatic feeder and completed a pin with the absolute correct dimensions every 42 seconds.

7.5

When I ordered an Adjustable Split Die from Widell, I asked for 7.5 TPI. It was a long time ago..
Been using it ever since....

When I cut male threads in joint protectors, I make them 8 TPI. Dick has it right, it's somewhere between 7.5 and 8.

I have the exact specs in the shop I will post later on 7.5 is very close. The shop I took it to has a 50:1 comparator. found the radius and pitch. Very accurate. I have the radius and the maj. and min. Pitch is 0.132 which comes out to 7.576 TPI

Yes, Bill's Cue was the first time I saw this Pin and that was where I got the dimentions from and started making JP's for the Radial Pin. Rocket Rodney used to use that JW Cue when he first started going to the States to play. Then, Steve Morris called me and he was using that same pin, so, I used to make them for his cues also..Remember MIDWEST CUSTOM CUES. Then, John Wright started ordering them from me 'cause he was one of the biggest Joss West Dealers.
