Re: "Presenting a Solution for Pool" http://www.insidepoolmag.com/billia...senting-a-solution-for-pool-200802035882.html

Thank you to all of you who have supported me in this venture monetarily and other. As you know I addressed the BCA Board of Directors with the proposal in February. It was well received by the BCA board and as a result they formed an inner committee of 5 of their board members. The members of this committee are scheduled to meet and discuss the proposal next week. From there the views of the committee will be voted on by the entire BCA Board of Directors.

What I need from you now is your continued support. I have setup an email account so you can have a voice directly to the BCA. I will forward all emails from this account directly to the sub-committee so they can have your opinions.

To be honest, the most credible opinions and views will come from people inside the billiard industry such as room owners, pro-shop owners and any other billiard related company. If you are in the industry I urge you to send a comprehensive letter to this email stating why you think the BCA should or should not pursue a professional pool program here in the USA. In addition to your opinion please state whether if or if not this would garnish your support for the BCA as a member and or sponsor of said professional tour.

Please send all correspondences to: propoolusa@yahoo.com

Thank you for your continued support.

Respectfully,

Mj

PS... If you support this proposal please bump this thread to the top after reading it. Thanks, Mj

8 hours later??? Have you "BUMP" -ed your heads?

8 hours later and no bump....pitiful....come on guys....support your sport and get busy recruiting some room owners and billiard related supporters to get involved in this!!!!!!! We don't get many shots at BCA support for a tour so this is the time to do something.

Eddie, here are 4 snippets from the proposal to entice others to get on board with this project.

Re: What The Funding Is Used For
The funding will be used to create a framework consisting of a total of 38, $25,000 added BCAUSPT events and eight televised events over a 5 year period. 6, $25K added events + 1 TV event in year 1. 8, $25K added events + 1 TV event in year 2. Years 3, 4 and 5 will have 8, $25K added events and 2 TV events each.

Fundamental Purposes Of This Proposed System

A: To provide a clear path for all players to earn professional status in North America and to advance to the WPA events through the BCA as the governing body of cue sports in North America.

B: To forward the goals of the BCA and the WPA with respect to promoting a standardized rule system.

C: To enhance the membership of the BCA by encouraging new and returning members.

D: To inspire everyone in the billiard community to support the BCA and its members.

E: To provide a focal point for the entire billiard industry to support and benefit from.

F: To create a solid framework for which the sport of billiards can build upon and meet the above stated goals for the next 5 years.

A: To provide a clear path for all players to earn professional status in North America and to advance to the WPA events through the BCA as the governing body of cue sports in North America.

This clear path will be as follows; All players regardless of their current status will be required to begin their eligibility path by participating in existing and newly created regional tour events. Once a player has qualified through a regional tour event that player will be eligible to participate in the BCA US Pro Tour events (BCAUSPT). Player rankings from their participation will then allow them to move forward and participate in the GenerationPool.com 9-Ball Championships (or any given name at the time of the event). Additionally, players will then be determined based on their ranking from the BCAUSPT events to participate as the North American contingents in WPA events.

This clear and concise path will benefit all current players while at the same time encouraging new participants in our sport by providing them a means to a goal.

Re: Outside Industry Corporate Sponsorships

The structure of this system will be extremely vast. It will encompass almost every part on North America with hundreds of events ranging from local grass roots style events and promotions to national and international television exposure. The huge majority of market segments that this system will cover is exactly what will attract large outside industry corporate sponsors to our sport. We will no longer be trying to sell multi billion dollar companies one or two events at a time but instead be selling to them hundreds of events that cover every market segment that our industry has to offer. This in its self is one of the main reasons the BCA should take the initiative lead in this excellent opportunity to create the foundation for which our sport can build upon for many generations to come.

Question: Will this proposed professional tour be 9-ball or 10-ball only (due to it's TV-friendly nature) or will it include other formats such as 8-ball, 14.1, one pocket,.............?

Right now since all of the proposed participating regional tours play 9-ball that is what this will be. Thats not to say thet other games will not be included laters but for now its 9-ball.

bump....

I definitely think that your proposal is great and I think that there will be a lot of people watching. The timeframe is realistic in order to attract large corporate sponsorships, etc. This should in turn be as successful or even more so than the women's pro system. It is just too bad that it is going to start with the economy in dire straits!
