Chad, Jason and I would like to thank Jon and Royce at OB Cues for their support and friendship as well as believing in what we are doing at TAR. We are proud to be associated with OB Cues. They support the game and its players in many ways. Great people who produce a great product. Thanks guys.

We also want to thank Mark Griffin of the BCA Pool Leagues and Greg Sullivan of Diamond Billiard Products. Without them this event would not be possible. Thank you very much.

Below is the flyer for the OB Cues TARPIT at the 2008 BCAPL 8 Ball Nationals in the Riviera Hotel & Casino and the press release for the TARPIT schedule. It is going to be a great time.

OB Cues to sponsor TheActionReport.com TARPIT at the 2008 BCAPL Nationals.

TheActionReport.com is proud to announce that OB Cues has signed on to sponsor an exciting new part of the 2008 BCAPL 8Ball Nationals. The TARPIT. The OB Cues TARPIT will be a players lounge and action room where the TheActionReport.com's two Challenge matches will take place as well as being a place for the fans and pro's to come and hang out, relax, and engage in everything from action matches to professional player appearances and clinics.

OB Cues launched a new line of cues at the recent Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge to go along with their very popular line of low deflection shafts that have established a great reputation with players of all levels. To quote Jon Allen of OB Cues "OB Cues, not just shafts anymore." OB Cues has also taken over as primary sponsor of what was The Hunter Ladies 9 Ball Tour and is now The OB Cues Ladies 9 Ball Tour. People who stop by to watch any of the events in the TARPIT or just stop to hang out can get a look at some of these exciting new cues. OB Cues will have booth space in the vendor area as well to answer any questions and give players a chance to check out all of the outstanding products they have to offer.

The TARPIT will be located directly across from the main tournament room in the Riviera Hotel & Casino. The schedule of TheActionReport.com matches begins on May 8th with the first day of the OB Cues Bar Table Challenge with American Scott Frost taking on England's Darren Appleton. The match is a unique 3 day format of 8 ball, 10 ball and 9 ball played on a Diamond 7 foot Pro-Am table with Pro-Cut pockets. These two great players each put up a $7500 entry fee for this exciting event. The match format is each day the players will play one of the games for $5000. Each days play will consist of race to 11 games best 3 out of 5 sets. The order of play is May 8- 8 Ball, May 9- 10 Ball, May 10- 9 Ball. There is one stipulation that makes this format very interesting, if the players split the first two days matches then they will play the 9 Ball match for the entire $15,000 prize fund. Winner take all.

The second challenge match to take place in the OB Cues TARPIT is a rematch from this years Derby City Classic action room. 2007 Player of the Year and U.S. Open Champion Shane Van Boening will put his Action Challenge Champion title on the line against former U.S. Open Champion and 2004 WPA 9 Ball Champion Alex "The Lion" Pagulayan in The Action Challenge 3. These two clashed at the Derby early this year in after hours action and Shane came out ahead. They met again at the JOB event in Tennessee and Alex dominated the matches. They will settle things May 11-13 with a $10,000 entry fee, race to 100, 10 Ball match. May 11 will see the players in action till one reaches 30 wins, day two May 12, they will play until one reaches a cumulative total of 70 victories and the final day, May 13 they will play until someone reaches 100 wins and takes the $20,000 winner take all prize.

Both of these exciting challenge matches will be available to watch LIVE on streaming Pay Per View at www.theactionreport.com. There will also be free live streaming coverage of all the TARPIT action that
happens after the first 6 days of challenge matches. TheActionReport.com will also be providing daily video updates of the happenings at the biggest pool event in the United States, the 2008 BCAPL 8 Ball Nationals. An added bonus for pool forum fans will be a $3000 entry Internet Challenge match between popular pool blogger Melinda "OMGWTF" Huang and AZ Forum member Chris "Cubc" Cubbage. They will play Saturday May 17th and all the action will be on the free stream. TheActionReport.com would like to thank Mark Griffin of the BCA Pool Leagues and Greg Sullivan of Diamond Billiard Products for all of their support in making the TARPIT a reality. Once again we cant thank you guys enough for all the time and effort you put into these events. I'm also thrilled to be able to thank OB Cues for joining your sponsorship team. Its exciting to see prominent businesses in the market realize what you're doing for the sport and offering their support. Hopefully more of the billiards community will realize that their support, no matter how small it is, is needed to ensure great events like this keep happening. Keep up the great work guys!!!

Thanks for the kind words. The crew at OB Cues are a great bunch that do a lot to support the game. They sponsor one of the best players in the country John Schmidt who is a great represenative for them, they also, as mentioned, in the press release have taken over as title sponsor of a ladies tour in Texas and just look up in this forum. They support AZ with banner ads among other things. These guys love the game and put their money where their mouth is.

I posted this in another thread. It might help those who have never been to one of the BCA events.

The TAR is going to be set up in the Capri Room. This is the first set of rooms (numbered 103 through 110 on the map below. Although this has always been one big room, not broke up as the numbers suggest). Usually where the womens, seniors and some scotch doubles events have been played.

Capriroommap.jpg

The Grand Ballroom will be the main tournament area with the BCA Main Desk and table issuing area.

Royale Pavillion will be where the mini-tournaments are played, plus team events and the last several years, where the pros played back in the 7/8 area.

The two small room sections on the bottom left across from the restrooms and the kitchen is where the action tables, speed pool and artistic pool are held. Plus presentations by Dr. Cue.

Hope to see you there.

Thanks for posting that. The OB Cues TARPIT will be in rooms 107-110 in the drawing above. We are going to try and keep it open 24 hrs a day as long as something is going on and we have some volunteers to help us out. Looks like Disco, Easy, DeadPoked, Cornerman and Spider Webb are gonna be in attendance for all or part of the trip so in addition to making things more interesting it will help us out tremendously. This the same crew we had at the Derby and they all made it the success that it was.

Like Jake Blues said "We're putting the band back together"
