For those of you that have been following the Gateway Amateur Tour or keeping up with Zim's Rack, here's some good news...
I'm in the process of organizing the Zim's Rack Amateur Pool Tour (APT) 2009 Tour Season. As some of you may or may not know, I'm trying to expand the concept of the Gateway Amateur Tour (GAT). I feel that each year thus far has been a success and appears to be on the right track. We've attracted over 600 players from 14 different states averaging 45 players per Tour Stop in the 3 years of the GAT existance. We consider this to be pretty good considering that it's an Amateur Tour with only $300 Added to the Tour Stops, while other tours are adding $500-$1000 and attracting less players per event. Anyone below a BCA Masters level are basically considered Amateur status to us (just a guide).
I'm excited to announce that Bryan Woodward from the Paducah, KY area is going to be running a Paducah Amateur Tour (PAT) that covers Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois and Southern Missouri. Bryan is an "above" average player that travels quite a bit playing pool. If you're not too familiar with him, you may have heard of his son, Schuyler Woodward. Schuyler has a tremendous track record already and he's only 14! Do a Yahoo search on Schuyler and you will be suprised at what you find!
I also have people in mind for the Chicago area and Indianapolis area. Several people have also shown interest in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area as well. All tours will fall under Zim's Rack APT. Each tour will operate under the same format, but with it's own Tournament Director, players and sponsors. Players points will not be mixed together. We will have a Final Tour Championship (FTC) at the end of the season that players have to qualify to participate in. With the GAT and PAT we should be adding over $6,500 to the FTC. Each additional tour should add around $3,000-$3,500 to the FTC (these figures do not include merchandise sales or sponsorship)
If you are interested or know someone interested in sponsoring Zim's Rack APT, feel free to contact me anytime via email, PM, snail mail or by phone (preferably email).
More info to come in the near future!
