Help posting pictures from World Championship

My wife returned from Taiwan with a disc full of pictures of the recent Amway Cup World 9-Ball Championship. I have about 30 or 40 pics that many here would find interesting.

They are 1.75 MB apiece (the limit for attaching to a single post is 100 KB).

Is there a way to reduce the size of these pics so that I can attach each to a post here? I don't have a LOT of time to do this, but would do it if there was a way to do it in a reasonable amount of time.

Thanks for any help you can give.

If they all in one folder, using an editing program, "select all" and reduce them.

If you want to do each one individually, then you will have to reduce the pixels one at a time. It takes me about 30 seconds to do it. They call me "Lady Fingers."

I keep hearing a noise on this forum now, like a punch sound. What is that?

Anyway, go to your PAINT program in Windows.

Go to your START button on your computer, and then look through your programs. Click the one entitled PAINT.

Click FILE and OPEN your picture file.

At the top of the PAINT window, click IMAGE.

Then click STRETCH/SKEW.

Reduce the HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL from 100. I usually make them 35 each.

Then SAVE the picture on your DESKTOP, renaming it.

You should then have no problem uploading this renamed file from your DESKTOP to this forum as an attachment. After you reduce your pixels via the PAINT software, then you are ready to add the picture to your posts.

Just click MANAGE ATTACHMENTS at the bottom of the MESSAGE window, and upload your new-and-improved, reduced-pixel picture file.

Piece of cake!

What is that damn noise on this forum? Anybody else hear it?

YES!! Driving me crazy also!

LOL! :D :D :D :D

I'm wondering what it could possibly be. I think it is one of those ad banners at the top, something about Predator being No. 1. :p

Zim,
Yes, they are all in one folder. What kind of editing program would reduce them all at one time? That sounds easy.

Possible suggestion

Maybe you could just upload the full size pictures to photobucket. Then just add the link so that people could visit photobucket to view the large size pictures.

I know I am interested in seeing the pictures and would rather see the full size files rather than reduced size which usually equals reduced quality.

Install this Microsoft Powertoy Image Resizer. Once installed, open windows explorer (explorer.exe), navigate to where your image is, right click on the image (or hilite ALL the files you want to reduce and right click on them )and there will be a option to resize the picture into 4 common file sizes. For jpg's on forums like this, 640 x 480 is just fine. If you then click ok, it will create a new jpg that is named like this...

mypoolman.jpg
mypoolman(small).jpg

A better way (for me) is to click on the "advanced" tab and it keeps the same file, but just makes it smaller without creating a new jpg.

Here's the direct link to where you can d/l the image resizer from...

If only someone had made a whole how-to thread on re-sizing and posting pictures...:p

Jimmy,
Actually, I already know how to do it that way (and have for several years). My problem is that I have a couple of hundred pictures that are all too big to attach; and I want to reduce their size without an hour of using the Paint program.

In addition I want to put each photo in a post in a thread; so that individual photo's can be referred to; identified (I have many unknown players); and discussed.

Very helpful link.

keep us hanging, aye?

Photo Edits

I have Microsoft Picture It! Premium 10.

Under "Touchup" it has a Batch "Edit in Mini Lab".

This has a resize feature, although I have never used it.

Looks like you can resize by Pixels (width and length) or by % scale.

I do use this feature all the time to batch edit photos for:

- Auto Color

- Auto Exposure

- Auto Contrast

- Auto Levels

It will change every photo, and then has a save all selection. Very slick.

Williebetmore:

just go to http://www.imageshack.us/ upload each photo, and at the bottom copy the direct link that it gives you for each photo.

then click on the little picture icon when you are making a post and paste the link there. that way the photo will show in the thread and you can write next to it too.

here's a screenshot as a guide:

Sunny,
Sorry, but my wife has planned most of the weekend for me; I'm not sure when I'll get around to it (maybe next Tuesday).

I think she enjoyed it; the photo's are GREAT. I suppose that they will lose some of their magnificence when reduced in size.

The trip over and back was quite draining; it's amazing that the players are able to perform at all. On the way back they went from Taiwan to LA to Orlando; shot some commercials there, and immediately flew back to San Diego. Basically 2 nights and 2 days with no hotel; sleeping only on the plane. They slept for about 16 hours in San Diego, then got up and played in the event. RIGHT after the match, off to the Marine base for military appearances both of the first 2 days. Everyone was just fried; I'm afraid the pool suffered as a result.

Many thanks for all of the re-sizing links; it sounds like I will be able to accomplish the task without too much problem. AZB is a great resource.
