When i first playing pool, it was like i was introduced to a new family. several house men and older regular players would hang out in the room that i shoot at. They took me under there wings and showed the ropes, it was amazing the amount of knowledge that these men had!
For that i am very greatful, if it wasn't for them i would of probably quit playing before i got started. Since then a few of them have passed away, and the others have just moved away. I miss all of them alot, and i miss 1 man inperticular that would slap me in the back of the head everytime i got up on a shot...
The point that i am getting at, is that it seems like them days are over! i walk into a pool room of today and the housemen which are ussually family of the owners, no nothing about pool! which in my mind is pretty pointless... you need to know something about the product that you are trying to sell !
I can't wait til i am older and i could take a new kid under my wing and give him the same appriciation for the game that i have learned over the years.
its just too bad that i cant execute all that i have learned over the years!
I dont know if thats how it is for all you guys, but thats how it is here in NY
I would love to see some of your stories, on how you were brought up to love the game that we all play sooo well !
