This thread is for the locals in the D.C. area, as many know Steve Gumphrey's family.
Phyllis Gumphrey's computer is on the blink, but she managed to contact Hemicudas, a friend of Steve's, to let him know about Steve's dad passing. Hemicudas couldn't logon AzBilliards and asked me if I could post this thread.
I know Parks, Jennifer, TomTom, and a few other D.C. locals do lurk here but don't post. So this thread is for them.
I actually met Steve's dad many years ago. He was a funny man with a big booming voice. He had me in stitches telling stories.
Here is an excerpt of Phyllis' e-mail: Just wanted to let you know that Papa Gumphrey (Steve & Bobby's Dad) passed away yesterday afternoon at his home in Cumberland, MD.. I was there and Steve's 2 sisters were there along with his step-daughter who has been taking care of him for a while now.
I don't have any details yet except the funeral home is called The Adams Family funeral home in Cumberland and it is going to be this week. Possible Wednesday.
If you don't mind, I would greatly appreciate it if you could you post on A-Z and other sites you go to; that the Original "Gump" has passed and is now with his 2 sons. I am borrowing my son's computer briefly now as mine is in the shop. Otherwise I would go to those message boards myself.
