That isn't much for breaking a monopoly. $35 for a cue ball. You could have bought these on Ebay for the past year or two for a little more than that. I wouldn't say this is much of a deal for $35.

That's just the same Aramith Pro Cup ball at an inflated price. They were originally sold online in the same packaging when first released at around $15-$20 each. As soon as Aramith withdrew them from individual sale the price skyrocketed due to restricted supply, not because they are better in any way than a standard Red Circle execpt if you like watching pretty spinny red dots.

I have yet to see anyone selling a competing ball with a similar multi-dot design through any online or retail merchants. (If Saluc have any sense they will have patented the design) As and when they do I would imagine they would price them at a similiarly inflated rate as the market appears to be happy bearing this price, and this is always assuming they are made to at least the same level of quality and consitency as an Aramith ball.
