I have been competing for almost forty years now and a spectator for longer. I have found that there is no serious competitor that you can't catch at a wrong moment and get a bad reception. No matter how nice someone is, nobody is perfect 100% of the time.

Trying to get everyone to list unpleasant experiences is not a good idea. Why encouraging bashing someone that is a nice person the vast majority of the time for one lapse? From my one face to face meeting with him I remember one of the leading players with a fine reputation as a bit of an annoying jerk. On the other hand, I remember some people with reputations as jackasses as very fine people, at least in their dealings with me.

I've always had a problem getting Travis Trotter's autograph.

Do you think you could use your influence to help me out here?

I was in Vegas in 2003 and was relieving myself in the mens room. I looked to my right and Nick Varner was relieving himself at the next urinal. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, I said, "don't take this the wrong way, but will you sign my ball?" LOL.:o

We had a good laugh and he signed my cueball when we were done. LOL.

Hu is right though, we all have bad days or bad moments. The title of this thread could've been "player that are cool". I'm sure someone would add a douche bag story. LMAO

Have a great day!

I'm making support Smorg avatar badges as long as someone would like one!

Perhaps it would be better to ask what pros were good about it, instead of noting the bad. Sort of like looking for the good in people instead of the bad.

If it's your desire to flame people then just go to a site that encourages that sort of thing. AZ doesn't care for flame threads or the people that start them. You just made the sh!t list of many people on this site and have lost credibility. Tough spot for a relative newcomeer to this site.

Most I have met have been pretty decent. I know one guy was great when I met him 25 years ago, but last year was a bit stand offish. So what, he was having a bad day, I have no problem with him. I will still pay to see him play.

Most people here do not like Mike Sigel and, quite frankly, his association with KT has helped him financially but hurt him from a fan's point of view. I still think he is a great guy and have always enjoyed talking with him.

I do not know or dislike Mike Sigel but the way he behaved during the IPT was a bit much for me. His rather obvious mispronounciation of Efren's name for one and his crowing about how good he is for another. Of course it was fun to watch him play Efren in the final!
I did enjoy that...

I suspect any impression gained from the on camera Mike Sigel during the IPT is about as real as watching a pro wrestler on TV and forming an opinion of them as a person. "Mike the Mouth" was about promotion. One thing that made me skeptical of the IPT being pool's salvation from very early on was proclaiming Mike the greatest player on earth after beating Lori and rechristening him "Mike the Mouth". Hardly seemed the actions of someone planning to elevate pool in the general public's minds.

i seem to recall getting my ass handed to me for agreeing with someone's right to call a player an "ass". the title of this suggests to call them "douchebags". the kid who used the term ass was raked over the coals and this thread got some light prodding as to idea that it's not a good thing to call people names. i don't understand this place.

yeah... it would seem that the majority of the users on this forum are quick to resort to a sort of douche bag like mentality when they find a thread they don't like...

Douche Bag...........hmmmmmmm

I would rather have it all collected in a douche bag and flushed than for it to be stinking up my favorite place. Douche bags are awesome!!

Threads wanting people to flame others are not needed. This thread needs a douche bag. IMO

You always have an option.

As for your choices of terminology, you're on very thin ice. I don't care what you call it, I call it a flame if you want to call anyone a douchebag.

Consider again the forum rules.

If you are inclined to idolize someone like Gordon Ramsay, I'll wager you like his abrasive stylings. I'd advise against trying it here.

Not pool players, but i met michael jordan last year when me and a buddy were in las vegas, and that guy is a total douchebag. Also, about a month ago i saw the old blue jays pitcher dave stieb at a bar, and this guy was my idol growing up in toronto, and he was the coolest guy ever. I told him the only other pro athlete ive met was MJ, and he says "That guy is a f'in asshole."

Yet another thread plagued with judging.

Leave the judging to the judges.

Whether it's a celebrity or me & you, we may meet and not like each other. It doesn't make the other one a douche bag. It just means we are different.

Thank God for it.

No good can come from pre-judging another person. Give people the benfit of the doubt! Maybe they had a bad morning, maybe someone they cared about was mean. Don't be so quick to judge people or situations. You will be happier.

Sincerely,

Ray

Since you've opened the door to other sports.....Nick Faldo walked up to his amateur partners on the first tee of a corporate pro-am and sullenly stated...."Hi I'm Nick Faldo and this is my caddy Jeff. Neither of us will help look for your golf balls in the rough, so don't expect us to. Ok stand back while I tee off please".....total charmer eh?

Then why don't you just delete the thread? it obviously serves no positive purpose and the title is offensive on several levels. Just a while ago a thread got deleted in the WFS section that was WAYYYYY less offensive than this one.

Earl Strickland.

THANK YOU FOR A LEGIT RESPONSE.....unlike the others.....

several other forum members were right when they warned me... STAY THE HELL OUT OF THE MAIN FORUM....because is full of people not open to anyone except their elitist ranks...

Delete this thread and you'll have proved a point by being....well just like the title said.
