 :

Leonardo Andam matched up against John Schmidt last Sunday evening at Diamond Billiards in Midlothian, VA. They agreed to do one set for one large since it was already late and people had to go work the next day.

They traded games at the onset of the set. When the score got to 4-3 , Leonardo started to pull away and didn't stop till the score was 13-5. They trade a couple more games playing hide and seek but it was evident that Leonardo was more skillful than John in the safety game and his cue ball control was dazzling.

The final score was 21-12 in favor of Leonardo. Hillbilly tried to play Leonardo but they were set in leaving as it was really late.

Diamond Billiards located in Midlothian, VA is one of the nicest pool hall in the region. Tommy, the owner said that the place was relatively new and he is trying to get a lot of exposure for his pool hall and he will be holding a lot action matches in his establishment.

You got the 8 for life!!!!! :D

Nice report, thanks! I saw a couple matches of JS' last week. I had never seen him play in person before, and I don't know if this is right or not, but I sensed he was not 100% comfortable. Maybe it's his SOP but there was a good bit of talking to himself and mild animation after shots that appeared not to meet his goal. I could be totally wrong, but that was my totally under-qualified observation.

I was rooting for ya John! He pulled out some close matches, including snapping the 9 for his last two games about 1:30 am (he won 11-9).

It was a pleasure to watch him play closeup. I think the fans enjoy competitors that show emotion and interact. He was very involved with the crowd. Before and after his matches he was hanging, signing auto's, and interacting as much or more than anyone I saw. (I couldn't help but ask him if he left Rachel behind to finish up the insulation work  ).

Damn, you played a strong game Elio and it was a great match. Thanks for posting! I kinda felt bad for you that after such a battle the match was decided on a BAM BAM, two 9's in the left foot corner. Not too many 9's went this tourney that I saw, and for you to get knocked out like that has to be a bitter pill. Maybe you need to practice racking. j/k!!!

Thanks for giving us the pleasure to watch a great match. You were a total gentleman, not a whine outta you, and I wish you the best going forward. Hope to see you playing again, just not against me without the 5and out!

BTW, I knew you were from Canada, but why did they have your name match-card saying USA?

Leonardo Andam's nickname is Dodong, my friend.
He is also called Dodong Djadjangas and The Rattlesnake.

Did a couple of posts on Dodong, btw.
Could be interesting reads. And I kid you not!

Ya it was a good match. I should have taken some more time racking the last couple racks but John changed his break spot on the last 2 breaks and made the nine both times. Not sure why they had me as USA, i told them i was from Canada and they were suppose to change it and didn't. BTW i have already been working with racking since i got back. LOL...

Too bad Andam lost that Schon cue of his. He sure played sporty with that cue.

I was searching for threads on my good friend, Leonardo "Dodong" Andam,
when I read this.

Brought back memories. Good ones.
Have clouds in my eyes now. Ha ha ha!

I miss you terribly, my good friend.

My greatest claim to pool fame is that I went undefeated against the great Leonardo Andam over the course of my entire career. How many others here can say that?

And never mind that it was just a race to 5 in the first round of a tournament with a payout of about 150 bucks. It's the principle of the thing, dammit!

Loved watching Andam. Had an upright stance and possessed phenomenal cue ball control and suffocating safety play.
